Cannabis. However, it’s illegal. It’s a Class B drug which means is illegal to have yourself, sell or even give away. If you get caught in possession of cannabis you can get up to five years in prison. Supplying cannabis can end up in up to 14 years in prison, an unlimited fine or both. Like drink driving if you are caught driving under the influence of cannabis you may receive a driving ban, or even a prison sentence. Cannabis has changed a lot over the years, historically Cannabis had much higher levels of CBD (cannabidiol) and lower levels of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis plants. The plants that are around these days typically have much higher levels of THC and lower levels of CBD. THC effects your mental health including difficulty concentrating or problem-solving, impaired memory and feelings of anxiety or paranoia. Cannabis factories are not only illegal but also have many risks associated with them Sgt Danielle Bristow

Main electrical supplies are often bypassed which creates a huge risk to the building itself, the occupants, and surrounding businesses/residential properties. The smell is particularly strong and is unpleasant for those residing nearby. The properties will be damaged to accommodate the growing facilities and the property owners are left with a large bill to rectify the damage. How to keep up with Kenilworth Safer Neighbourhood Team

Out and about with Kenilworth SNT Hello Kenilworth! It’s been a really good month for the team this month. We’ve been enjoying getting back to our core role again, with life starting to get back to normal. We had received some concerns over anti-social behaviour down at Castle Farm and so we did some multi-agency working with the Ranger Service. Members of the team visited Castle Farm with the Ranger’s on multiple occasions, and we were happy to report there were no issues.

Update on our priorities We have continued to target our forum priorities and have conducted two static speed checks on Cromwell Lane, Burton Green, with one driver given a fixed penalty notice for doing 40 mph in a 30-mph zone. We have stopped and given advice to drivers of five other vehicles.

It was really nice to see people using the space and playing football. We were also able to start getting back into schools, with a visit to reception at Thorns Infant School for their superhero week. We took along a police van for the children to look around, as well as some old uniform in our dressing up box for the kids to play with. We’ll be doing more visits to schools and look forward to seeing the children again.

We have continued to monitor school parking issues and PCSO Craig RICARDO recently took part in a ‘’cars and kids don’t mix campaign’’, a reminder to all parents to park responsibly when picking up your children. A a fixed penalty notice was issued to to one parent who had parked on the Zig Zag lines – an expensive error at £100.00 and three pentaly points on the driving licence! Think before you park, please.

Monthly Message from Kenilworth Beat Managers….

Hello all! I hope you’re all staying safe and well and been enjoying the easing of the COVID restrictions. It’s been a busy month for Kenilworth SNT during which we have continued to pro-actively target problems in our town. During a house search in Kenilworth, we recovered approx. £700.00 worth of cannabis and a small amount of a Class C drug, one juvenile male was interviewed and enquires are currently ongoing. We also recovered a Samurai Sword from the address, which whilst not illegal to possess is certainly better off with us given the circumstances in which it was found. Three males from Birmingham were stopped and searched in Burton Green under the Misuse of Drugs Act and a referral to our Youth Offending Team has been made after an amount of cannabis was recovered from one of them. Following a vehicle stop on Warwick Road we arrested one male for driving under the influence of cannabis and issued another male a cannabis street warning for possession. We will continue to target the drug trade and would encourage the public to contact us regarding any concerns. We were able to get out with the mobile police station and meet the public as well during our knife surrender week, we will be out the mobile station again over the coming weeks and months so keep an eye on our social media – come down and say hello! PC Steven JONES

Best wishes - PC Steve Jones
