Na onal School Nurse Day ~ Wednesday, May 8, 2019

National School Nurse day falls on Wednesday, May 8th during National Nurses Week, May 6-10. On this day we will honor Melissa Garrow, our school nurse at Robert Bennis Elementary School.

Thank Melissa for all you do!

WOW! May has arrived.! This school year has

gone by quickly. What a year we have had.

REMEMBER: We s ll have several days of school

le and it is usually chilly (some days very chilly)

in the mornings. PLEASE send sweatshirts or

jackets for your children.

The lost and Found Corner has a lot of items

wai ng to be claimed. Please come by and check

it for anything that might belong to your chil-

dren. All items not claimed by the last day of

school will be donated to charity.

Lunch Accounts The last few weeks of school will fly by quickly.

We ask that you keep an eye on your child’s lunch

account balance and take care of any changes at

this point. If a balance is le in the account it will

be carried over for the beginning of the school

year.

Reminder if your child needs a special diet order

for the next school year, we need to have a new

prescrip on diet order submi ed from your Phy-

sician so that we may make the proper accommo-

da ons for you. If you have ques ons regarding

special diets please contact the Child Nutri on

Department at 582-3926.

Thank you and have a great summer!

Note from the School Nurse Melissa Garrow RN

[email protected] 605-582-8015

Important End of the Year Informa on Regarding Your Student's Medica ons at School:

All medica ons (prescrip on and non-prescrip on) must be picked up by a par-ent. Medica. ons will not be sent home with students. If medica ons are not picked up by 11:30 on May 30th they will be disposed of properly. This policy is for the safety of our students. Thanks for your coopera on.

Medica on Renewal for 2019-20 School Year

If your child will require medica on to be given at school next year, appropriate forms should be completed and returned to the office before the first day of school. The nurse will be back to school starn g August 15th from 7:45-3:45. You may also bring them to the school nurse during Open House, which is Mon-day, August 20th from 5:30-7:00. These forms are available in the school office or can be downloaded from the school website, www.brandonvalley.k12.sd.us, by clicking on “parents”, followed by “school nurse” and then scroll down to Health Forms.

All prescrip on and over the counter medica on that needs to be given daily or as needed requires a Medica on Consent Form. This includes Epi-pens, seizure medica ons, inhalers and all daily medica ons. A physician’s signature is required; we cannot give any daily prescrip on medica ons without a doctor's or-der, doctor’s signature and parent signature. Bring the form along with the medica on to the nurse’s office before the first day of school.

Any over-the-counter medica ons must be accompanied by a Medica on Consent Form, signed by a parent. This is required for medica ons to be given as needed or for prescrip on medica ons that will be taken for two weeks or less such as an bio cs, eye drops, etc.

Feel free to call me, Melissa Garrow, School Nurse, at 582-8015 if you have ques ons or concerns.

Enjoy your summer and I look forward to seeing you again in the Fall. Thanks for a great year!
