To: Junior High and Elementary School Counselors/ Principals/Coaches/Parents From: Leslie Slovak Date: January 26, 2018 Subject: Junior High Physicals for 2018-2019 Athletic Participation The UIL and the RISD require that student athletes receive a physical examination each calendar year prior to participation in any sport. The RISD offers low cost physical exams for junior high students each spring. This includes current 6th graders who will be participating in athletics next year. These are basic physical exams that meet the requirements set forth by the UIL. If parents wish, they may take their children to their own physician. However, the doctor must complete the UIL physical form. If you did not receive a physical form, one may be picked up at any junior high, high school, or downloaded from the UIL website: http://www.uiltexas.org/athletics/forms and select “pre-participation physical evaluation form”. The following schedule for physical examinations has been set up through local doctors and will be given at the Christa McAuliffe Learning Center. Due to the large fluctuation in numbers of athletes each year, a short wait may be necessary. Examinations are available for both boys and girls. Students should wear shorts, T-shirt and tennis shoes. If parents are unable to attend with their child, students must bring permission letter with parent signatures. The Head Coach (or his/her designee) will be present at the time the physicals are given to assist the clinic staff. Please have the front page of the physical form (Medical History) filled out prior to arriving for your physical. If you have any questions regarding physicals, please email Jessica Nelson, (Athletic Trainer at LHHS) at [email protected]. If necessary, she may be reached at 469-593-1088. Jessica will be at CMLC on the exam date, therefore if you have questions please contact her before May 12th. There will be nobody available to answer questions in her office on the exam date. UIL (University Interscholastic League) y RISD requieren que los alumnos atletas reciban un examen físico cada año escolar antes de la participación en cualquier deporte. Cada primavera RISD ofrece exámenes físicos de bajo costo para alumnos de secundaria (grados 7 y 8). Esto incluye estudiantes actuales del 6º grado que participarán en atletismo el próximo año. On Friday, May 18th, official letters welcoming each student to the Viking Orchestra will be handdelivered by the directors to the elementary schools with their orchestra instrument selection and the “Next Steps” guide with instrumentspecific information.
5th Grade Orchestra Registration: (MARK YOUR CALENDARS!) On May 29, your first Viking Orchestra event will be held at North JH from 47pm. At this time all 5th grader parents who have a child participating in orchestra next year will come to the RNJH Orchestra Room to register their child in orchestra, and get instrument rental information from Caraway Strings.
All instrument drives will be in the Orchestra Room at North. Park in the north parking lot by the football field. The Orchestra Room entrance is right next to the small gym door.
