May Behind the Wheel:
Spring is rolling along with Summer on its tail and we have some great things planned.
May 13th - Budweiser tour
June 10th - Airforce Academy Tour
July 8th - Joint Picnic with the Pike Peak Section at Clark & Karen Absher’s home outside of
Colorado Springs. This is always a great time!
August 18th-20th - Peach Festival Trip
Since we have changed from our Wednesdays Socials to just monthly Saturday events, the
participation has almost doubled. I would like to thank all of our members who have put
together these events for all of us to enjoy.
This year our calendar of events is full, if you have anything you would like to see the club
look into doing next year, send me your ideas to [email protected] and during
our planning breakfast in November we put everything together.
We plan a Regional trip each year and these take longer to put together so if you would like
to plan something for summer of 2018 let us know.

PRAISING MERCEDES-BENZ ON THEIR SAFETY FEATURES
Mercedes-Benz to the rescue! I was rear ended in my GLK on I-225 on March 27th. The headrest immediately deployed and saved me from whiplash. The collision repairs cost $7,000 worth of damage to my car, but the headrest saved me from whiplash. I thought I should share this in the Constellation because we didn't realize that our car had such a wonderful safety feature. Diane Townsend Diane recently saw our dentist and he said that people who experience whip lash can also experience dental or jaw trauma that often appears up to 3 months later from sever clinching of the teeth on impact. Diane experienced a broken tooth that showed up a week later and she may need a crown. Max Townsend

After lunch, attend the Palisade Peach Festival
Dinner will be held at the Rockslide Brewery in Grand Junction.

PIKES PEAK SECTION EVENTS
JOINT SECTION PICNIC
Joint Section Picnic - 8 July 2017. After a two year absence, the Annual
Joint Section Picnic will return to Absher Acres for a rally and picnic lunch.
Everything kicks off with coffee, juice, and pastries between 8:45 AM and
9:30 AM. The first car will leave on a time-based rally at 9:45 AM. Lunch
will be served upon the return of the final rally participant followed by the
awarding of the trophies. Mark your calendar and prepare for a wonderful
day on the Palmer Divide in eastern El Paso County. The Pikes Peak Section
received the winning section trophy in 2014 and hopefully will be a repeat
winner in 2017 with your help. More details will be revealed in next
month’s newsletter. Check back soon!
