Pastor’s Column
Spring is such a beautiful season.
Stores are packed with excited peo-
ple choosing flowers and
shrubs. Every day our backyard
looks different from the day before
as plants bloom and the yard is
filled with new color.
Spring reminds us that we can have
new beginnings and Jesus promises
hope for the future. God is all
around us showing us that our Crea-
tor is alive and well and that no mat-
ter how discouraged we feel, hope is
real.
Enjoy the beauty around you, living
in the moment, and thanking our
Creator for your many blessings.

Joint Appeal for Ecua-dor Earthquake Relief
On the 16th of April 2016 the people of Ecuador experi-enced a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. The death toll of hun-dreds and injury count of thousands are rising daily. Phys-ical damage to buildings and infrastructure is cata-strophic, including demolished buildings, broken road-ways, and lost electricity along the Pacific coastline. A state of emergency has been called for 6 of Ecuador's coastal provinces.
Because the scope of the damage is so immense, the disaster ministries of the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are leveraging our existing partnership to respond jointly. As members of the one body of Christ, we strengthen one another and stand together with those who are suffering.
Through our partnership, you are already there in the heart of the response. You are there as traumatized survi-vors evaluate their next steps amid the rubble of their for-mer homes and as rescue responders continue to search for survivors. You are accompanying the people of Ecua-
dor through your support of the UCC and Disciples disas-ter ministries.
The United Church of Christ One Great Hour of Shar-ing and The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Week of Compassion issue this joint special appeal for $500,000 for Ecuador earthquake relief and recovery. The United Church of Christ and The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with our ecumenical partners, are well-positioned to respond to immediate needs and to be strategically active in long-term accompaniment as people recover their lives and livelihoods
Your generosity to this special appeal will enable a far-reaching response.
