What a privileged it was to present 1st place winner Loretta

Assembly, it was the perfect setting to show her off to her
peers, teachers and family. Loretta had” no” idea she had won
1st place, surprise, surprise; Loretta was given our NAWIC
Award Certificate, a Medallion and $300 cash prize. Our 2nd
Place winner Dylan and 3rd
Place winner Michael were give
awards in Mr. Luckow class where their peers were present.
Mr. Luckow is the Architecture and Construction Engineer
teacher at Canyon del Oro High School, he was a great
inspiration to the student during this project, we are so
grateful for his commitment to his students and to us .
(see pg#5 WE CAN DO IT)
Rachelle Hornby our CADD Chairperson has done such a
great job! She got all the judges from Pima College,
connected with JTED and schools, she mastered the
schedule… HAT’s Off for a job well done, Rachelle!
Thank you ladies for encouraging Rachelle all the way to the
finish line, she say’s “next year” will be easier! Looks like we
have a CADD chairperson already on board, Wahoo!
For all of our donors, I personally can't THANK YOU enough
for your generous contributions - without you this would not
have been possible.
Proud to be your President

Inspiration moment If you could provide one piece of
professional or personal advice, what would
it be? Do not be afraid to get your hands
dirty. The only way that you will learn and
gain confidence is exposing yourself to
things that you would normally be afraid of
doing.

Professional What is the name of the company you work for and describe your position in the company? The
name of the company that I work for is IFS Flooring. I wear many hats in the position within the
company but essentially I am the owner’s assistant, project manager, and I am now a specifier in
training.
What's your favorite moment of your career so far? My favorite moment in my career so far is the
ability to be exposed to so many other trades. I love the pressure of project management and getting
to meet new people while out specifying. And one thing that is my favorite and I appreciate is that I
work in trade that is still a hands on craft within this industrial world.
What was your childhood dream job? I wanted to be a designer/artist
What would be your ideal job, if not in construction? To be a designer
Associations Why did you become an NAWIC member? I became a NAWIC member so that I can meet and
network with women within the same career field as well as giving my company exposure to other
companies that can benefit from our services.
What does your NAWIC membership mean to you? How has it impacted your career and
influenced your work in construction? I am very excited about my NAWIC membership, being a
new member I can’t wait to see how it is going to impact my career and it makes me really proud to
be part of group that will offer me the opportunity to grow within the construction community.
What three accomplishments, personal and/or professional you are most proud of? The three
accomplishments professionally that I am proud of would be educating myself and getting my BA
in Interior Design, having the confidence to work within a male dominated career, and continuing to
educate and expose myself to opportunities that will allow me to grow. The three personal
accomplishments personally that I am proud of are raising my three beautiful children, being a
single Mother and being able to provide the best that I can for my children, and being completely
independent.
Do you belong to any other associations? I do not.
About you Describe your perfect day? My perfect day would be able to wake up and relax with my kids
spending a day at the beach or Disneyland.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? What would you want to discuss? It
would be Frank Lloyd Wright. He was such an eccentric mind with amazing ability and to be able
to have a conversation with him just to hear his outlook on some things and hear how he would
handle them would be awesome.
Who has been your greatest inspiration? My Children, my Mother, and my Sister.
Guilty Pleasure: What can you not live without? Beans and Tosti Verduras
Best trip, EVER…please explain My best trip ever was to New York, we stayed there for six
months when I was 12 years old. It was the best time I have ever had. Being immersed in a culture
that is so different in comparison to the West Coast and being able to be exposed to the architecture
and art that it has to offer was highly influential in who I am today.
