May 20 through 26 marks the return of Wailea Resort’s tasteful dinner promotion, “Restaurant Week Wailea.” This celebration of the area’s finest cuisine will take place at more than a dozen participating Wailea resort restaurants, including options at The Shops. Each three course, pre-fixe menu is just $29, $39 or $49 per person (depending on restau-rant, beverages, tax and gratuity not included), and some restaurants have enhanced the promotion by creating wine pairings to enjoy with your meal, at a very special price.

Gerard Marti, owner of Célébrités Gallery of Celebrity Fine Art, recently introduced friends Mick Fleetwood and Jean-Michel
Cousteau. The trio has decided to col-laborate on the release of a collection of fine art photography by Fleetwood and Cousteau with the goal of raising aware-ness of vital role our oceans and other bodies of water play in the survival life on our planet.

Two of the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific’s ensembles – Papana and Da Small Kine Band – will share a free performance at 6:30pm in the lower courtyard.
Known throughout the Pacific region for their high-impact performances, “Papana” is dedicated to the art of America’s music – jazz.

I was recently selected to participate in the Retail Experts conference at CBRE University in Chicago. Yes, I said CBRE University. This is an intense, week-long think tank on retail and every possible factor influencing current and future trends, marketing, capital markets, risk management and more.
Did I walk away smarter than when I walked in? I would like to think so. But the real take-away was the commit-ment CBRE has towards their “Stan-dards of Excellence.” At The Shops at Wailea, we strive to meet those standards every day in everything we do. If, by chance, we miss something, don’t hesitate to let us know. May marks the annual Kentucky Derby, but the “run for the roses” can be part of your everyday as well, courtesy of Peter Max. “Kentucky Derby” is this month’s featured painting, an acrylic on canvas measuring 15” by 16” framed and matted.
