This past week the Rochester pastors met and we tried to process this surreal time. We really got stuck
on what our “gathering” may look like when the Civic and Medical leaders tell us we can do
something regarding this down the road. As we all know, gathering is a big no, no with this virus and
furthermore, how do you effectively distribute the Eucharist without contamination. These are all
questions I am sure many of us have as we find ourselves longing for “communion,” not only with the
real presence but also with one another. I have received a couple phone calls from parishioners asking
when communal Mass will resume. It is very saddening but I also realize the hunger we all have to be
back together as the Body of Christ to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. Hang in there!
The staff here at Pius also met this past week to try and process the same. Our “virtual” ministry will
continue. A big piece that I saw right off the bat with this “quarantine” was how to best keep in touch
with St. Pius parishioners. In the beginning we focused on the Senior parishioners but as this dynamic
of isolation has dragged on, we also see the need to try and connect with everyone. The staff here at
Pius needs to be commended for their efforts to keep all this rolling and rolling out. Thank God most
are younger than me and they know how to use today’s technology. Your encouraging and positive
responses to this new way of ministry, of being church has enabled me to celebrate Easter in very
profound way this year.
Also, thank you for your continued financial support to the parish. A couple parishioners were
walking by on a beautiful morning and I opened the door and spoke with them at a distance. They
asked “how” the parish was doing in this regard and my response was “ok.’ Charlie Haugh, our
financial head here at Pius, keeps me informed about what is coming in and what is going out. Know
St. Pius is doing okay with the financial piece and that is because of the good “salt of the earth and
light of the world” folks who love their parish community. We miss you and long for the day when
we can gather once again as the Body of Christ. Jesus is Risen!
Volunteers Still Needed
We'd like to reach out to all of our St. Pius X parish members,
(checking in with how they are doing, if they need anything,
letting them know of our website offerings during this pandemic,
and offering to pray for them). We need about 75 more
volunteers. If you would like to offer assistance, please contact
Betty Renner at 288-8238 and leave a message with your contact
information. Betty will contact you to make further arrangements.

Need for Masks
Our Lady of Guadalupe Free Clinic in Worthington, MN started as a simple dream between two friends to
reach out to those in need and provide medical care for a few people who were concerned about their
health care. Over the past years, OLGFC has grown and is currently serving the needs of the uninsured in
southwestern Minnesota. Our clinic is operating approximately every two-three months at the office of
Worthington Chiropractic Center in Worthington, MN. The patients of Our Lady of Guadalupe Free Clinic
are in need of masks. Often multiple generations live together and sometimes multiple families in one
household. With the rapidly growing outbreak of COVID-19 in Worthington, masks are in great need. If you
sew and are able to donate masks, they will be distributed to the patients to wear in the community and
while caring for their loved ones. The CDC website has directions for making masks. Masks can be mailed to:

St. Vincent de Paul
Our parish members of the Society of St

mission is to be a network of friends I
nspired by Gospel values...building a
more just world through personal relationships with
and service to people in need. We take calls
(216-7370) from 10:00 to 3:00 each weekday except
Wednesday if you or anyone you know in Rochester
needs help. As always, we thank parishioners who are
able to provide the donations that allow us to
continue this ministry.
Family Service Rochester

as toilet paper, cleaning wipes and
spray, hand soap, laundry soap, dish

Family Service Rochester, Rochester Public Schools,
and Families First. Families in need of these items can
receive them by contacting their social worker.
• Financial donations are preferred. You can do
so visiting http://familyservicerochester.org/

donate form.
• Donations of new, unopened items can be
dropped off in the entry way at Family Service
Rochester South, 1625 Hwy 14 E., Rochester, MN,

Please contact Family Service Rochester with questions,
507-287-2010.
This COVID-19 initiative is a collaboration of Family
Service Rochester, Rochester Public Schools, Families
First, United Way of Olmsted County and Channel
One.
Channel One
Channel One needs additional
volunteers to pack emergency
food boxes and to help fill the gaps we are seeing as
many of its current volunteers fall in the at-risk or
vulnerable populations category. Channel One is
looking towards the community members who are
not considered high-risk to step up and volunteer
during this time. Healthy low-risk individuals are
encouraged to sign up for a shift at https://
www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?ap=1490410146
to help fill the gaps in its volunteer base.
Channel One volunteers are crucial to maintaining its
operations, and with many individuals practicing social
distancing or self-quarantine, we need the extra hands
to support this increased need.
