PhilophobiaLet’s explore the different guises that a person can use to avoid falling in love and committing to a relationship. You could very well be one of them without even suspecting it.

If you’ve ever heard someone say phrases like: “I don’t have time for love right now”, “I’m very comfortable being alone”, or “if love comes my way then good, if not then that’s fine too”, then it is quite possible that you’re facing a philophobic person. This fear of falling in love, of compromising and creating ties of intimacy as a couple, is one of the prevailing reasons why today we find many people living alone, or constantly going in and out of short-lived and insignificant relationships. But beware! Another guise of this condition is to deem oneself interested and capable of maintaining a relationship with an emotionally-stable partner but subconsciously dream up illusions of unrealistic love and run at the sight of genuine love, faulting a thousand defects. This way, in the end, they will feel safe since “there are no strings attached” and thusly there was “no commitment”.

The greatest fear of a philophobic is the feeling that they are losing control. They panic at the mere thought of exposing themselves just as

1818 Health

they are because they have serious inferiority issues, generally deep-rooted in and stemming from childhood. Not being able to recognize their own shortcomings, they will seek to justify their loneliness to all ends, even blaming their uncertainty of each possible suitor that crosses their path, saying that nobody is good enough for them. We all have come to more or less feel this degree of fear, because we know that falling in love carries the risk of suffering a loss or abandonment. However, remaining paralyzed under this fear does not guarantee to be painless, for in the end, a life without love, expectations, and passion can become much more painful and terrifying.

If you realize that philophobia is currently part of your life, do not hesitate to have a coffee break to confront yourself honestly about this topic. Seeking professional help could also be an extraordinary option in consciously working to transcend this fear of committing to a relationship. Otherwise, you will continue to live under the illusion of believing that you’re protecting yourself from suffering, with the only truth being that you’re losing the opportunity to live out these emotions and experiences that your heart yearns for, despite your attempts to ignore it.

FEAR OF LOVE AND COMMITMENT.

Our dream wedding took place on June 21, 2014, it was the day I married my best friend. Our special day began with a religious ceremony at St. John of the Fields. After the ceremony we were welcomed by our loved ones at D’Gala Event Center.A year ago when we began planning our special day never did we think it would be as wonderful as it was. All of our vendors came together and made our day even more special by capturing every special moment and decorating it as we envisioned it.

Anneth & JorgeSome people ask themselves "how do I find love?" The best way to find love is not looking for it, and that is exactly how our love story began.

We met at mutual friends’ family gathering. We sat right in front of each other, and it was an instant attraction. We glanced at each other nervously, smiled, and giggled throughout the whole night. Jorge got the courage to ask me out on a first date, he surprised me with a dozen roses and a romantic poem. How could I not fall in love with such a gentlemen, and so the journey of our love began. We have been together since September 2, 2010 4 years together and still going strong.

We found our soul mates. Our love and trust has been growing since then. It was a family vacation on March 30th, 2013 when the magical moment finally came! Jorge got down on one knee and proposed to me at South Padre Island, with tears of joy I said yes. For our engagement pictures, we traveled to the beautiful city of Austin, TX with professional photographer Eric Sierra. We enjoyed traveling to different parts of the city where Eric captured the best of us with amazing scenery.

Our names are Hector Carbajal and Lidza Villarreal we will be getting married on November 29, 2014 if God permits. After being together for 6 years we will now receive the blessing of Jesus Christ, family, and friends. We met in Paras N.L. MX; it's a small town where our families, grandparents, and ancestors are from. Like all couples we've had our highs and lows but our love is much stronger and respect towards each other has kept us together all these years. We are very blessed with the people that have come across our lives beginning with our families and friends. We were very lucky and smart in contracting Eric Sierra Photography, now our friend, to do our engagement and wedding pictures. We highly recommend Eric Sierra because he is very professional, understanding, and easy to work with. We had our engagement pictures taken in Gruene, TX. It is a beautiful town and we

really enjoyed spending time there. After several hours taking pictures in Gruene, we finished our session in beautiful downtown San Antonio, TX. Our wedding ceremony will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Hope and our wedding reception will be at the beautiful Corinthian Banquet & Special Event Center. Our plan is to travel to Bora Bora for our honeymoon, very excited for that as well. Our future plans are to continue our good faith, love, and respect. We want to continue to grow our Love and if God permits begin our family. We want to instill the same principles and values to our children just like our parents did to us. We want to continue to grow our home health agency, Genuine Healthcare Services and medical equipment company, Tex-Star DME. Last but not least we want to thank our family, friends, Eric Sierra Photography, and Maxwell for this great opportunity.

Suheily & Jeremy

After one and a half years apart, Jeremy and I could not be happier to start our lives together! Long distance relationships are hard, especially when there is half a world between you. But when God gives you that special person, there's no limit to distance; there's no limit to time. All there is left to do is to patiently wait for the moment that you can be together. Then, all the waiting and all the distance will come together to give you a perfect ending to your new beginning. - Suheily

For Rick and I, it was love at first and second sight. We have known eachother for nearly 15 years and dated briefly in high school before losing contact with one another for almost ten years. In 2011 we re-connected and it was as if we picked up exactly where we left off all those years before. One October night while making us dinner, Rick started talking about how truly blessed he was with such a loving family. Anytime the moment was just perfect I had the habit of saying, "now would be the perfect time to propose," well, as soon as I finished saying that, he came towards me and bent down on one knee while holding a small ring box. I cried and said yes, it was truly intimate and perfect .

Sasha & CameronI was nervous and excited on our wedding day. I hadn't seen Cameron since the night before and I couldn't wait to see him. I wanted to sneak away and go see him before we walked down the aisle, but that would be bad luck. I was full of anticipation to finally call Cameron my husband. I can't put into words the happiness I felt when I looked at him as I walked down the aisle. I was the happiest woman in the world, nothing else mattered. I was about to marry the one person I couldn't imagine my life without. We said "I Do." We kissed our first kiss as Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Miller. Our wedding day was happy and full of joy! We smiled, we laughed, and we danced. Our wedding day was the beginning of a lifetime full of adventures. I loved our wedding day.

Jenny & Donald

Donald and I met nearly nine years ago working at a residential treatment center for children and adolescents. We both had it in our hearts to help at-risk youth cope with the difficulties they undeservingly faced. Although we always remained professional at work, we enjoyed sharing common interests during our free time such as bowling, playing pool, listening to live music, and just enjoying each other's company. We dated for nearly eight years as we focused on educational and career goals that we wanted to obtain.

Both being Christians, we love lighthouses and the symbolism of God's endless love and protection. Last April, we took a weekend trip to South Padre Island for a relaxing vacation. We both were excited to see Port Isabel's lighthouse; however, we missed it by nearly five minutes. Dissapointed, we knocked on the door and explained to the young attendent that we traveled all the way from Austin to see the lighthouse and were heading back home tomorrow morning. We were overjoyed and so thankful that he kindly allowed us to enter the lighthouse and climb to the top. What a breathtaking sight! As I turned back around from admiring the 360 degree view, Donald was on one knee! We had talked about a moving forward with our lives together, but I never thought that day would be today! As nervous as he was, I couldn't tell; he gave a beautiful, heartfelt speech at the top of the lighthouse. Our relationship has a solid foundation in trust, loyality, selflessness, and faith, and it gets richer every year. I'm so thankful to marry my best friend on October 4th, 2014.- Jenny

OUR MOST BEAUTIFUL COINCIDENCE

After living so close to each other we ended up meeting each other so far away, one night in which the pride and indifference of both us would open the doors to true love.It took 9 months of dating for me to realize that there was no greater happiness than what I feel when I am with her and that is was with her who I wanted to share the rest of my life without caring for anything else. After getting engaged on November 9, 2013 we thought on a thousand things for our wedding, but never a big party. We searched for restaurants, houses, and venues to make of our wedding day something small and special, but the love we have is so big that it was impossible to express it in something small. 4 months passed full of doubts as to how we would celebrate out big day until March 18 when I

Page 55: Maxwell Brides Ed. 08

formally asked for her hand and we decided to do something big but simple. It took 5 months of planning, stress, disagreements and emotions to get to August 6 the day our dream came true. It was such a beautiful and emotional experience that it is impossible to describe all the love, affection and emotions I felt as I saw her come in the venue with that beautiful dress and her peculiar shine in those eyes I felt in love with.

This adventure not only has it left something magical in our lives but it has also left us true friends which we want to thank, thank you for each and every moment you have shared with us since you all have been a fundamental piece to the best moments in our wedding. Friends like Magaly Gisel. Gomez and Dany Ruiperez, which were the ones to blame for capturing all the best moments of our wedding and converting them in the most beautiful and magical images we have seen, because besides being the best photographers they are the most noble and fun people we have met. A special thank you to Arian Casas our wedding planner for his patience, experience, and great taste which with pride we can count him as one more of our friends. I want to thank all the family and friends that were a part of that special day but specially to our parents Javier Rios, Maria G. Espinosa and Myriam Llerenas for sporting, guiding and being there for us in each of the decisions we have made in our life’s, thank you a lot. The biggest thank you of all goes to my wide Judith for changing my life, for being with me besides everything and for giving me all her love and affection which make me the happiest man on in the world.

Thank you my love, I love you.Alejandro Llerenas

My wedding day started off a complete mess. Everything that could go wrong was going wrong. I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry. Just when I was about to have a complete meltdown, I receive a phone call w the voice I needed to hear. It was my soon to be husband. He told me to take a deep breath and not to stress that no matter how long it took me to get there he would patiently be waiting for me at the altar. It was at that moment that I realized that was all that mattered, a quick reminder of what an amazing man he is and how he could make things better with his positive outlook everything. I was going to marry my best friend and everything else I was so worried about from that point on didn't matter. I arrived to the wedding and everything fell into place so perfectly. From the wedding dress of my dreams that fit my body like a glove and his custom made suit that complimented his athletic built to the beautiful white Hydrangea centerpieces that added such a romantic touch to the venue. It was truly everything we wanted and more. We are so appreciative of all the love and warm wishes we received from all our guests. A special day filled with wonderful memories that will never fade!

A day full of love joy and emotions. Our wedding was an unforgettable experience. Our day started with the fear of an unpredictable weather here in McAllen Texas, but once we were together holding each other's hands, nothing else mattered. We enjoyed ourselves to the last minute together with our families and loved ones. Having everyone we love together in one place celebrating our union was fantastic. Today we thank God for that wonderful day where numerous unforgettable memories were created. Eric Sierra was capable of capturing those beautiful memories and we will always be able to revive those feelings

Fidelity: Conscious personal decision

common life, they promise loyalty to each other, and in this agreement applies some responsibilities that may strength this link. The faithful person is that one that fulfills his or her promises and keeps the loyalty besides the time and different cir-cumstances and changes.

Fidelity is possible. A lot of people think that in a relationship the minimum ex-pectation is fidelity, when in reality, is not the minimum but the maximum because in order to love and be faithful we need a strong will, because temptation is always next to us. We need to strength our values, common sense and the love for the family.

Is about becoming more thoughtful and in some way "submit" my feelings, in other words, to think with cold head and not let-ting you go by the moment. To be faithful is like any other habit and the one you have to work on in order to turn into a vir-tue and life style.

• Recognize your weaknesses and avoid all temptations. If you find out that you feel some kind of attraction for a different person than your partner, avoid him/her and don't plan intentional encounters. Keep in mind that you have a commitment and your wonderful family that's waiting for you and most important, that believes in you.

• Think about the consequences, think about what would happen if you get caught being unfaithful? There's nothing you can hide from the sun. Don't assume the nobility or the love of your partner, there's a lot of people that even if they try harder, they can't get over an infidelity.

So, it would be worth it if you question

The eternal question: is it possible to be faithful in this era of new developments and where the law of the mi-nimum effort rules? Yes! Of course it is! Love entails a commitment that goes further than just a feeling that may wear out or devalue. The real fidelity is an act of renewable voluntarily, and is not the commitment with someone else, but within you.

Definitely you don't become unfaithful overnight. It is necessary that you notice that in every moment you can avoid it, once you'll be able to reinforce the columns of any relationship:Communication, avoiding routine, respect previously arranged agreements, continuous growth, such as per-sonal and as a couple, and the most important thing: The respect and admiration the one for the other.

The eternal excuses: Looking for a third party justifying with a: "It's because I don't feel that there's love anymo-re, there's not such a thing as romance, he ignores me, I continuously get bored, he/she doesn't take care of him-self/herself, the house is a mess, etc. How come? First you justify yourself, and then, you blame your partner.

Until today it brought to my attention how the majo-rity of the unfaithful people don't have a reason to be. Sometime at work, on the street, and even in church someone will throw them a soft look, a compliment, a flirty smile or just kindness... And that's enough to open the door.

It seems like we don't need more motivation, and there's who'll be disposed to put in risk their family, employ-ment and friends. That's why we have to take care the body language that we throw since we don't know the weakness, emotional state or the condition that the marriage of that person is at.

There's a lot being said about infidelity, besides that, to-day I want to focus and approach with a positive view of this value, sib of loyalty and compromise. The fidelity is the virtue to give commitment to a pro-mise. When two people get married or decide to have a

yourself if you'd be able to lose the trust and the love of your partner; think about the pain that you'll cause to your children and the image that they'll have about you. Would you risk everything that you have built with your partner with love, effort and dedication?

• Use your criteria and common sense and say NO to the temptations and YES to congruency. Sometimes may happen between men challenge each other, and there are many of them that before their manhood gets in question, they go for social pressures. Be aware and learn to say no.

Only the very brave man know how to say “no” to temp-tation with no fear to be disapproved by their friends. A real friend won’t propose something that will hurt you or your family, so analyze this as well. Are you around people that are in sync with you and your family values?

• Be empathic. Put yourself in your partner’s position and ask yourself: How would I feel if I find out he/she has been cheated on me? What does my relationship is missing of?

• Win over curiosity. You are in control of your emotions; don’t let your emotions have control over you. Nothing is as ephemeral as an affair. If you really need new sensa-tion and newness in your affective life, talk about it with your partner, and together look to satisfy your needs.

• Avoid wastage. To be unfaithful implies a huge emotio-nal awareness and the experience will always take you to haven of peace in your life. Remember: What doesn’t give you peace does NOT come from God. Infidelity opens wounds almost impossible to heal, besides the forgiveness and new opportunities, nothing will be the same.

Once trust is broken, because when you have failed with reason or without, it requires a lot of will to come back to the right path.

Next time that you feel that temptation or that things are not going right with your partner, think about it twice before being unfaithful, the solution will hardly be to get a new affair. On the other hand, you are giving an entran-ce to infinity of problems.

If you recognize yourself being weak in that sense, look and find support and orientation, and the most impor-tant one: The support from God in order to avoid failing on temptation, you need a higher power, in other words, a support that goes beyond your human reason and that only the grace of God can take care of you to say NO.

We will see you the next time! We will also see you in the Morning TV Show Alegre Despertar!

Elizabeth & KennethDivine intervention definitely played a role in us meeting and falling in love. Our cultures and backgrounds are different, but love for our families, drive for success, and faith have allowed us the perfect balance of similarities yet the right amount of differences that complimented one another. October 25th, 2014 is a day that cannot come fast enough for both of us. The day will be a celebration of our commitment to each other and the start of a new phase in our relationship. A 2- week trip to Italy and a Papal blessing for our marriage will just be lovely bonuses.
