Colorado Arts Center Inc. (CACI) is an

organization devoted to the advancement

of Denver as the creative capitol of the

west. The arts center is still in a fairly early

phase due to its debut as an organization

in 2008. CACI was developed because

of the Task Force on Creative Spaces

in 2006. Now, the arts center is moving

forward with their efforts in trying to gain

a large space to provide for local and

national artists. Whether creating is one’s

hobby or career the arts center will be

here to provide them with everything they

need.

CACi was developed due to a movement that took

place in 2006 called the Task Force on Creative Spaces.

The Task Force was started by Denvers mayor John

Hickenlooper in order to push the art scene within the

city of Denver. John Hickenlooper realized that Denver is

going through a cultural renaissance and wanted to make

sure the city was ready to support such an experience.

The easiest way to support an expansive movement like

said “renaissance” is to generate affordable, suitable,

permanent and sustainable creative space in the city

itself. The Task Force on Creative Spaces reached it’s

final step eleven months after its birth with the report,

“Space Matters”. Now, the cultural scene has reached a

new point with Colorado Arts Center Inc.

At this point in time the Colorado Arts Center is

advancing as best they can from the Task Force on

Creative spaces. The main concern is this creative

space and the idea that the city needs to understand the

importance of the spaces. CACi has been working around

the clock to raise awareness within the city of Denver

just like the movement in 2006 but now is the time for

progression. This next step is the first step toward a major

regional arts facility which will bring forth vast amounts

of benefits to the city and the creative culture that is

dwelling within it. In 2008 the Colorado Council on the Arts

commissioned a survey of Colorado’s creative economy

which ended with results showing that Denver is ready

to proceed with the final stage in developing the creative

capitol of the west.

what does CACi have to offer?

The Colorado Arts Center is hoping to bring various

new elements to Denver with the opening of new

creative space but not only creative space will be

offered. With the opening of an arts facility like CACi

there will be a whole new sense of community created

within the city, a community that anybody can become

a part of whether you’re just beginning as an artist or

you’re experienced in the field and maybe even have

gallery openings. The mixed levels of artists allows for

great things to happen like inspiration and instruction

from artist to artist. On the topic of instruction the

arts center also plans to hold educational meetings

non-stop growth as an artist

covering all ages of artists. Having such a large creative

atmosphere will create an easy way to engage learners into

the artistic process while allowing them to be surrounded

by various other forms of art resulting in endless inspiration

and non-stop growth as an artist. On the other side of the

learning aspect the arts center will present artists with

low cost studios and recording studios to produce the best

work they can. Also, the idea of large gallery openings

has been a big part of the arts center since day one, galleries

that would allow fellow artists to gain inspiration and even

network, possibly creating some sort of a collaboration.

These large galleries along with the arts center in general will

bring new jobs to the table as well, this allowing artists to

no longer be the “starving artist” while still working in full

production. CACi is dedicated to the advancement of

the artist in Colorado and will stop at no cost to develop

the creative side of Denver, Colorado.

CACi hopes to accomplish many things, here’s a few ideas

For starters, the Colorado Arts Center is

looking forward to creating an organized

network of resources, artists and

organizations. This goal is intended to

strengthen the community aspect of the

arts center, every community needs a solid

foundation. Also the arts center is hoping to

facilitate a range of professional and

educational opportunities for artists of all

disciplines and skill levels. One of CACi’s

main goal is to give everyone an equal

chance to excel as an artist. This idea

can be reached through proper education

opportunities for beginning artists. For

the more experienced artist is when

CACi will push them into opening galleries

and networking with fellow artists on a

professional level. The top priority

of the Colorado Arts Center is to create

plans for the future

“facilitate a range of professional and educational opportunities for artists of all disciplines and skill levels”

and maintain a major regional arts center that will

realize Denver’s vision as the “Creative Capitol of

the West”. It was proven in 2008 that Denver is ready

to move on in a progressive fashion toward being one

of the biggest creative outlets in the country right now.

CACi hopes to achieve this by giving the artists who

are ready to move forward a creative atmosphere that

makes it possible. Sooner than later Denver’s creative

vision will be a reality and that is what the Colorado

Arts Center is here to do.

CACi offers several ways for the general

public to help out with the mission toward an

arts center in the city of Denver. Memberships

are the most beneficial form of contribution,

by becoming a member you’re added to a list

of people who receive inside information on

upcoming galleries as well as discounts for

such galleries. Another way to help us out is to

become a volunteer. We’re always looking for

people to help out at held events and sponsored

galleries. The most common form of contribution

is donations from people who are just as

enthusiastic as we are toward an arts center. If

you’re interested in donations or memberships
