Maverick Sabre’s Official Website http://www.mavericksabre.com/

Maverick Sabre’s official website features a large image of himself in the top right corner, and his name in a large font with a simple design at the top and bottom of it. This gives the name a simplistic yet elegant design which reflects his genre of music. There is an mp3 feature running across the very top of the website, which allows the audience to have a preview of his album

The main image of him is identical to the image that is on his most recent album, “Lonely Are The Brave” which helps to promote his new music. His album is also placed underneath the main image of the website, and because the image is there to draw attention to Sabre, the audience will see his album and increase the chances of them buying it. There are links to music purchasing websites to make his music easily accessible and perhaps to deter music pirating as the music is easier to get to using the website.

The colours of his website appear to be dark grey and white. This keeps the website’s appearance simplistic and easy to use. This was perhaps done as not to draw attention away from the artist and the messages he is trying to communicate instead of having the site cluttered with animations and lots of images. There are also social networking site links in the top corner of the website, so the audience is able to access more information about this artist and follow them on Twitter or “like” their page on Facebook. This helps the audience feel they have more access to the artist and can perhaps form more o a connection with them. It also increases the chances of his music being spread virally thus reaching a wider audience.

Album Covers

o Maverick Sabre’s earlier albums all feature his in an urban setting. This perhaps reflects the style and meaning of the lyrics of his music in his earlier music, and that they may have centred around the place he grew up or the place where he lives.

o The settings in the first and third album are in black and white, whereas the second is in colour. The settings all quite common and grungy, and he is the only person visible in the image. This could show that his music is quite solemn and that he is a single artist and his music doesn’t feature many other artist.

o In these album covers he is wearing a hoodie and jeans, which could be to identify with a more young, teenage audience as it fits in with the teenage stereotype.

Sabre’s more recent albums are very different to his older albums which could show that he is changing his style and is perhaps trying to reach a different or wider audience.

His covers still feature himself, but instead of an urban setting as a background it is just plain black. This gives a more mature effect, and shows that he has perhaps evolved in his music. He has kept the same design for his name throughout all of his albums. A majority of his album covers are shot in black and white which make him look more professional and gives the impression that he is a very mature artist and that his lyrics may have deep meanings. It also identifies with the indie genre, because all of his album covers have been very minimalist and simplistic, compared to a pop album cover that would have very bright colours and have a lot going on in them.
