The Federal website that evaluates every nursing home in the US is www.medicare.gov. If you navigate their website you will see on the left side of the site one can search for the real hard core facts of any nursing home in the country.A simple 1-5 star evaluation gives the reader a quick snapshot summary of nursing care standards.   For example, a 1 star facility are those which have the most nursing care problems, and facilities with 5 stars have the most favorable standards from the viewpoint of data and inspections gathered by the Department of Health. For the past five years CLOVER REST HOME in Columbia NJ has scored a minimum 4 to 5 stars in every category. This excellent score reflects the extraordinary care that is delivered to the elderly everyday. From staffing ratios, to wound care, to survey issues, CLOVER has scored tops in Warren and Monroe counties. CLOVER REST HOME is a small 33 bed family like nursing home located in a small town setting nestled along the Delaware River in Colum-bia with round the clock nurses who are trained and held accountable for meticulous care. CLOVER nurses care for those elderly with demen-tia or other ailments that effect seniors. CLOVER never uses temporary agency staff and therefore staff  and residents are very familiar which each other.  Physicians of all specialties make rounds regularly. CLOVER has a dietitian, social worker, rehabilitation staff and lots of activities including regular outside trips to enjoy the seasonal majestic views. The “non-institutional” home like atmosphere of CLOVER REST HOME relieves families and Residents from the cold impersonal and daunting anxiety of senior care. Specially designed care plans involving families and residents address every need and potential a Resident has.Now CLOVER has undergone a renovation of adding full bathrooms to four of their rooms. With up to date handicap accessibility and private showers with seats, Residents on the B wing will now be afforded their very own personal, fully tiled, brand new bathroom. When Alvan Small, the Administrator, was asked why all this money was spent on bathrooms rather than other amenities, he simply replied--”it’s a dignity issue!” “CLOVER- CARE” values dignity as the  utmost of importance to all our Residents”.  Residents, visitors and staff at Clover Rest Home feel and know the quality and expertise that sets “CLOVER-CARE” above the rest.CLOVER REST HOME is a 5 STAR NURSING facility according to all regulators on the state and federal level!!! Feel free to visit www.medicare.gov and search the facts. This is truly the best kept secret in Warren and Monroe Counties. For more info on a 5 STAR nursing Home visit cloverresthome.com. or 908-496-4477

Many of us know someone who has been affected by breast can-

cer. This isn’t surprising, considering it is the second most common

cancer among women in the United States. In fact, each year, 200,000

women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer, ac-

cording to the American Cancer Society. Unfortunately, symptoms

don’t typically appear until the cancer has spread beyond the breast.

That is why it’s important for women to receive regular breast cancer

screenings.

A screening mammogram can help detect breast cancer early and,

as a result, treatments often have a higher success rate. Women who

are 40 years of age or older should get a mammogram every year.

During the rest of the year, women can also be proactive by conduct-

ing self-exams and notifying their OBGYN of any changes they may

notice.

Although you don’t have control over such risk factors as age and

family history, the American Cancer Society has reported that making

healthy lifestyle choices can also help reduce women’s risk of devel-

oping breast cancer. For instance, studies have found a correlation

between alcohol consumption and an increased risk of developing

breast cancer. Other studies have shown that being overweight puts

women at a higher risk of developing breast cancer, too. Luckily, these

risk factors can be controlled by practicing moderation with alcoholic

drinks, maintaining a physically active lifestyle and making healthy

food choices.

Regardless of age, there is always a need to be protected. The total

cost of a screening mammogram is also covered by Highmark’s Medi-

care Advantage plans. Be sure to contact your doctor so he or she

can order a mammogram script for you. If you have questions about

breast cancer, ask your physician or visit Allegheny Health Network’s

Cancer Institute website at www.ahn.org/specialties/cancer-institute.

For many cancer patients, getting to and from treatment is one of their toughest challenges. The American Cancer Society needs volunteer drivers to help provide free rides for people in your community.

Volunteers Needed

Call 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org/volunteer to learn more about how you can help save lives and create more birthdays.

1. Age Requirement: Volunteer drivers must be between the ages of 18 and 85.2. Valid Driver’s License: Volunteer drivers must have a valid driver's license from the state in which the transportation will take place or from another state if reciprocity is permitted. Valid means the license is issued by a state, has not expired, and does not restrict the driver's ability to drive during the scheduled time.3. Properly Working Vehicle: Volunteer drivers must have a properly working vehicle with valid tags. Larger vehicles to accommodate a potential companion or service animal are preferred, but are not required for driver eligibility.

4. Insured Vehicle: Volunteer drivers must use a vehicle that is insured according to state laws where the vehicle is registered.5. Passed Risk Screening: Volunteer drivers must have passed the Society’s driver risk management review process (e.g., background check, insurance verification, driver's license verification, motor vehicle record check).6. Road To Recovery Trained: Volunteer drivers must be properly trained and provided with necessary items as determined by the Society.7. In Good Standing: Volunteer drivers must not be on probation and must not have been expelled from the Road To Recovery program.
