From the Committee for the New Evangelization:The Diocese of Columbus is studying information as part of a strategic planning process to evangelize the future of the Catholic faith. Current and local information from individuals on why they no longer attend Church or no longer consider themselves Catholic would be very helpful in the planning process. There is great value knowing these answers to address the evangelization needs specifically in our Diocese for the future. While many of us may think we know the reasons or assume them, the Diocese really wants to hear from the people themselves. Therefore, please help get the word out to take this survey by those who have fallen away from the Church or who are no longer active in the Church. This may be a loved one, a child who no longer attends, a sibling who moved away, a friend, an acquaintance, etc. Please only ask people to take the survey if they have fallen away from the Church or are no longer active in the Church. Here is the survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LDH6SDH.

James Vincent McGonagle recently passed away. Please pray for him and for all the faithful departed. May God grant them peace and eternal rest.
COMMUNICATIONS TEAM UPDATE: Since Fall of 2017, Lisa Carr has been a mighty behind-the-scenes collaborator with parish staff as Communications Director. She took this on as missionary staff member in addition to working full-time as a nurse. Much of our growth over the last 3 years can be attributed to Lisa’s commitment to ensuring that our parishioners have had all the info they need to participate in parish life. Lisa is now being called to another role within our parish – more on that to come – and we can’t thank her enough for her service to the Communications Team! Lisa, we know God has great things in store for you and for us in your new role! For any parish communications requests, please email our team at [email protected].

Discernment Groups for Young Men and Women: With the help of the Director of Vocations, St. Brendan Parish is bringing two new exciting projects to our deanery of parishes. Both are designed for young men and women age 16 through mid-twenties. The groups will help them discern whether God is calling them to the Priesthood or Religious Life.
The Melchizedek Project is for young men. It is a national initiative and we are the third place to offer this group in the diocese. The meetings will be once a month. Every other month, Fr. Hahn the Vocations Director will join us. Other priests may also drop in. It will take place in our new meeting Room B, every 1st Thursday of the month at 6:30p and will last an hour. Masks will be required and social distancing maintained.
The AVOW discernment group for young women discerning religious life follows the same format and meets on the same night but in Room A. Food will be available, and the meetings will run from 6:30p to 7:30p. The Polish Dominican sisters will be part of these meetings, as well as one or two lay volunteers. Masks will be required and social distancing maintained. Not sure where the new meeting rooms are? Just park in the main parking lot and head toward the doors by the statue of St. Brendan – you cannot miss him, he is 8ft tall! Inside the doors we will have greeters to show you the way.
Mommies Matter is a pro-life charity with the mission of serving pregnant, single mothers in our community. We provide support such as one-on-one and group mentoring, spiritual guidance and emotional support, goal setting, family advocate services, as well as transportation, educational, housing, and financial assistance. Each fall, we host a fundraising event that is responsible for bringing in the bulk of our operating funds so we can continue the important work of showing up for the brave pregnant, single mothers who have made the courageous decision for life. Typically, we host this event each fall in person, but this year will be much different due to restrictions on large group gatherings.
We will be hosting the Fall Fundraiser via live-stream on Tuesday evening, November 17, 2020, at 8:00 pm. The purpose of this event is to raise the funds necessary to expand our outreach to the Mommies we serve. Although the event will be hosted virtually, it’ll certainly be one to remember! Comedian, David McCreary, will emcee the event riddled with comedy and magic. There will be giveaways, raffles, and a silent and live auction. Event ticketing packages include T-shirts, craft brews, pizza, charcuterie, and more! You won’t want to miss this fun fall event in support of an important local cause.

ALL SOULS DAYOn All Souls Day, we not only remember the dead, but we apply our efforts, through prayer, almsgiving, and the Mass, to their release from Purgatory. We Pray: Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace!

VETERAN’S DAY – NOVEMBER 11: In honor of Veteran’s Day, we are asking veterans and families of vets to send in their military photos with name and service (Army/Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard,
etc.) details so we can scan them and have a “slide show of honor” on our live stream and website. Please send photos and information by Friday, November 6 to our parish team at [email protected].
Women of St. Francis – our next monthly meeting will be on Thursday, November 12 in Murphy Hall at 7p. It’s still not too late to join, just come to the meeting – annual dues are $10.00. Laura Svatora of Heartstrings by Laura will join us to help with our seasonal craft. For $10.00 you can create and take home your own string art. We will need a head count by November 2. Those who don’t wish to
participate in this “make it/take it” project can come along and enjoy the creativity of others. See more design choices at our Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/SFdS.Ladies; you don’t need a Facebook account to view the pictures. Contact Carol at 740-366-3060 [email protected] to reserve your design choice. Our members bring donations of food and other necessities each month for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. We will be collecting tuna and Tuna Helper this month. At our October meeting, we collected 7 boxes of dry pasta and 85 cans of pasta meals. Thank you, ladies, for your generosity!FYI – WOSF will be selling Christmas ornaments with our parish and school logos on them. Stay tuned for more info.

For the last 22 years, the Knights have hosted an annual cake sale and fall breakfast to support this effort, with all money raised going to offset the cost of purchasing Christmas gifts for the children. Unfortunately this year, we are cancelling those events and are appealing to you to send your monetary donations to help us with this important program.
