By: ristan BauerA boy gets stung by a wasp

while he was working on a track. It happened on uesday at 11 amat Blackoot Pool. A boy scout had

just gotten out o the pool duringPathnders when a descended intohis neck.

Te boy tried to hit the wasp andkill it, but the wasp stung the boy.Adam Pringle, the aquatics director, was signing out requirements orthe merit badge when he heard theboy crying.

checked in with the Stargaz-ing Rugged-O in Mountain Manmeadow. Te Stargazers saw part

o the dark side o the moon andcraters, too.

Later on they saw Saturnthrough the telescope. One o theStaers hoped to get a good view o another planet.

“Jupiter's coming out later thissummer. I'm hoping to get a good view o it,” Communications/Sci-ence Director Peter Schlaht said.

Te scouts had un:“I really liked it [the Rugged O.].I met this guy [Justin Wu],” MaxDiscar, a scout, said.

Seeing the moon, Saturn, andhaving un are all important thingsor this Rugged O, but the big thingabout this Rugged O is stargazing.

“I met this guy [Michael Patac-sil] who's really good with a Yo-yo,”Justin Wu said.

One scout and staer had this tosay:

“I'm hoping see the stars, maybesome planets, and no clouds,” JakeBeel said.

“Te main goal o this Rugged Ois so the boys can know all the ma- jor stars and constellations so they can identiy it themselves,”

Once night ell, the stars cameout. While there were some clouds, there were plenty o stars to seeand, with a telescope, the gazerssaw some planets.

One o the more popular RuggedO's, the Pirate Rugged O' proved tobe quite successul. Several scoutsrom many dierent troops enjoyedhours o ree swim at Parker Pool.

Some pirate scouts, however, enjoyed their ree swim in a unique

way.Tese scouts simulated skate-board tricks by jumping o o theedge o the swimming pool witha swim board and landing on topo the boards into the water. Tescouts pulled several stunts includ-ing: kickfips, 360s, and ront fips.

A couple o scouts perormeda trick, the 360 Ollieoop, that hadnever been attempted beore. Te

stunt requires two boys. Te rstboy jumps o o the edge o thepool, catches a board thrown tohim, perorms a 360 spin, and landsinto the water with both eet on topo the board.

Aer several ailed chokings and

rug burns, the boys pulled o thestunt.Te boys climb out o the pool,

lled with atigue and accomplish-ment. Tey eel more rereshedthan ever beore.

Even though they smell likechlorine, they eel like the dirt andgrime rom the past week has beenwashed away. Tey eel cleaner thanwhen they came.
