Ideal for patrolling international borders, protecting open flanks against insurgents and supporting a quick reaction force due to long range, large internal volume and storage capacity. Day/night vision sights and sensors can be fitted to extend the ranges of observation and engagement.

Matador offers the highest levels of protection as standard against mine and kinetic attacks. It is designed to take a section of infantry (commander, driver and 12 soldiers) with all their equipment. This is a flexible battlefield tool for both conventional, asymmetric warfare, counter terrorism and peacekeeping. Matador can be configured as an armoured personnel carrier or as a light infantry combat vehicle mounting a variety of weapons including machine

guns or anti-tank missiles. It is designed to use Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) components and major assemblies from volume manufacturers which reduces lifecycle costs and offers excellent, proven reliability.

There is a high degree of commonality among Paramount vehicles which allow customers to build a fleet of multi-role combat vehicles while minimising the spares holding and keeping the maintenance and training costs as low as possible. This makes Paramount vehicles an excellent investment for the owner and for the user.

FIREPOwER TO SUIT A RANGE OF MISSIONS

All of Paramount’s vehicles can be fitted with a weapon system. Depending on the mission requirements Matador’s weapon fit can range from a 7.62 mm machine gun on a simple “pintle mount” right up to a 20 mm fully automatic cannon, with two-dimensional stabilisation and a true all weather, night-fighting capability.

Turret designs and capabilities will vary according to customer requirements including the calibre of the weapon system and whether the system is mechanically operated, electronically driven, or even a remotely operated weapon station. A range of further enhancements can be integrated to include missile systems and defensive aids suites.

Matador has been tested over some of the most difficult terrain including the Middle East deserts and delivers outstanding levels of mobility over all types of terrain. It is fast and agile, able to make good use of the ground to outflank ambush sites or heavily defended positions.

Matador is designed to take up to 5 000 kg of payload without loss of mobility and is air-portable in a C130 with minimal preparation (without turret).

Matador is independently tested and proven to withstand anti-tank landmine blasts of 14 kg TNT anywhere under the hull and 21 kg TNT under any wheel (greater than STANAG 4569 4a and 4b). Against kinetic attack it is protected to STANAG 4569 Level 3 as standard. Extra protection can be provided against specific threats, such as large IEDs and RPGs.

Armoured Ambulance

The Matador armoured ambulance is fitted with a full field ambulance suite, which includes two stretchers and seating for two combat medics and two sitting patients. Comprehensive on-board emergency medical equipment includes full emergency first aid equipment and supplies, a ventilator/resuscitator, oxygen supply, IV tracks and secure storage for all medical items.

The ambulance is ideally suited for so-called hot extraction of patients in mine-threatened and other hostile environments where its high levels of passenger comfort and off-road capabilities are of particular importance; especially where on-road driving poses a high risk.

In military configuration the ambulance is fitted with reversible or retractable markings, while for peacekeeping and other non-war operations, it can be fitted with the required markings, emergency lights and siren.

APC

A 14-seat (driver, commander plus 12) multi-role armoured and mine protected vehicle capable of fulfilling a wide range of operational missions with an equally wide range of payload, seating and weapon choices, Matador can be field reconfigured to meet mission-specific requirements.

With a payload of up to 5 000 kg, Matador’s flexibility is enhanced by its capacity to accommodate additional protection against IEDs and other threats as well as additional fuel and water to enable long-range and long duration operations.

While primarily a military vehicle, the Matador APC is eminently suitable for applications in the peacekeeping, paramilitary and law enforcement environments while it can also be readily reconfigured as an emergency ambulance with two field stretchers.

VARIANTS

Command Vehicle

The Matador Command Variant is equipped with a full command suite to client specifications, which includes communications and other electronic equipment. Optional additional facilities include an auxiliary power unit, command post side tent, telescopic mast and others. Command stations within the vehicle include workstations, communications interfaces and appropriate seating without adversely affecting protection, mobility and other attributes.

Full command facilities are available while the vehicle is static or on the move while command post facilities such as the tent can be rapidly deployed and folded away.

In standard configuration and on the move, the Command Variant is virtually indistinguishable from other Matador APCs, enhancing its security and protection. The variant similarly retains the ability to carry and employ selected weapon payloads.

Infantry Fire Support Vehicle

The Matador Infantry Fire Support Vehicle (IFSV) is a standard APC reconfigured for this role and fitted with a 12.7 mm or 14.5 mm weapon system, with the weapon operator under armour.

The weapon system includes a day/night video camera and sight for observation and for target identification, acquisition and engagement. Accuracy and first round hit capability is enhanced through the provision of a laser range finder.

The IFSV can be deployed at various levels in the unit to augment the fire power of other APCs, which may be fitted with smaller calibre weapons.

Anti-Armour Fire Support Vehicle

The Matador Anti-Armour Fire Support Vehicle (AAFSV) is fitted with an anti-tank missile launching remote weapon station for the protection of infantry units against armour threats. The system has full day/night capability with ranges up to 5 000 m and is fitted with a 12.7 mm co-axial machine gun for close protection.

While the Matador’s ample transparent armour offers wide fields of view for target location and identification, the missiles are remotely launched allowing engagement from hull-down positions.
