Mastering your Reinvention - Negative Influences of Other People

Negative people and negative self-talk can shatter our self-esteem, self-confidence, and our will to strive toward anything positive .

We have to be careful about those individuals who have negative voices ofinfluence in our lives . Sometimes they tell us that our dreams and goals are inadequate, or they belittle our efforts to succeed . They may even tell us thatwe are incapable and incompetent and remind us of past failures . These are the NIOPs, the negative influences of other people .

We must eliminate those negative voices of influence in our lives and replace them with voices of support and encouragement . We must reevaluate our relationships with those in our inner circle, those who are closest to us . Explore whether or not people who are closest to you are helping you or hindering you toward achieving your success .

What currentrelationships are healthy for you and which ones areactually toxic?

1. List the names of theindividuals closest toyou, i.e., those in your“inner circle.”

2. Place a “+” next tothose who create apositive influence inyour life.

3. Place a “-“ next tothose, if any, who seemto have more of anegative influenceon your life.

4. Draw an arrow fromthe names next towhom you placed a “-“to a line outside thecircle and rewrite thename of that individualoutside the circle.

5. Replace thoseindividuals you haveeliminated with anyadditional voices ofencouragement whoshould become a partof your inner circle.
