ges are increasingly being met with European

solutions. Europeanisation is profoundly

transforming local, regional and national

circumstances. Europe is developing a single

voice at the global stage. Do you want to learn

more about the impact of Europe?

An international Master

The new international Master Programme

in European Studies provides advanced

knowledge and analytical skills to un-

derstand processes of European integra-

tion. We address a broad range of topics,

including legal, political, economic and

social aspects of contemporary European

development. The teaching is always

connected to recent research.

You will be equipped with the analytical

skills to assess European actors involved in

the integration process, implications of EU

policy, as well as to formulate strategies to

operate effectively in the European arena.

The programme will prepare you for a

professional career as a European analyst,

whether in the private or public sector, at

the local, national or international level.

Programme structure

The core courses deal with key European

challenges and dilemmas: economic

and political integration, environmental

management and conflicts, and the rights,

obligations and access to a European citi-

zenship. You will also be able to give your

studies the individual profile you seek th-

rough the choices of elective courses and/

or internships with relevant organisations.

Hosted by the CES

European integration affects economic,

legal, political and social conditions, which

means that European studies are interdis-

ciplinary by nature. For this reason the

programme is hosted by the Centre for Eu-

ropean Studies, CES, with its unique and

long held competence in European Studies.

The teaching staff is drawn from both eco-

nomics, the humanities, law and the social

sciences. CES is also tied to the Centre for

European Research at Gothenburg Univer-

sity, CERGU, which is an awarded Centre

of Excellence for European research.

Entrance RequirementsThe requirement for admission to the programme is a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 90 higher education credits in a social science discipline. Students at the Law programme are also eligible to apply to the Masters programme, after three years (180 higher education credits, equivalent of a bachelor degree). Priority will be given to applicants with 60 higher education credits in European Studies. Proficiency in English required. ApplicationApplication deadline for Swedish students and students within the EEA is April 15th 2010. Application deadline for students outside the EEA is January 15th 2010.
