STARTING HEALTHY EATING HABITS IN CHILDHOOD
According to a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study, most
Americans are still not eating the recommended servings of
fruits and vegetables.
CDC Report Findings
The CDC report surveyed more than 373,000 American adults in all 50 states on their consumption of vegetables and fruit.Just 13 percent of those surveyed ate the recommended amount of fruit servings per day, while only 9 percent did the same for vegetables.According to current U.S. dietary guidelines, people should eat 1.5 cups to 2 cups of fruits and 2 to 3 cups of vegetables every day.
Living a Healthy Life While there are specific dietary guidelines and treatments within Siddha-Veda that may surprise some people, Master Healer Pankaj Naram does believe people at the very least should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables daily. Especially those that are locally grown, and seasonally available.
Improving Menus Master Healer Pankaj Naram
says this means starting the trend
with children, whether that is improving the
menus offered in schools or – and probably more
importantly – in the home. In fact,
researchers with the study have
suggested, too, that to improve the consumption of
fruits and veggies in the U.S., efforts should start with
children.
