If the wife is happy…everyone is happy! This lovely couple wanted to remodel their master bathroom, but still keep the updates in line with the period of the home. Both are active adults, but the wife is a long time endurance runner who will likely need two hip replacements in the coming years. They wanted to plan their bathroom remodel taking into account some ADA and Aging in Place considerations. The wife is also an accomplished mosaic and glass artist. The tile work had to be top notch so we brought in one of the best. Our only problem was keeping him on task so that he and our homeowner didn’t spend too much time “talking shop”. The frosted glass facade of the vanity light will ultimately be etched by the homeowner during one of her future artistic endeavors.

The awkward layout of the entryway to the toilet and the toilet to the sink prompted the many of the layout changes.

After |Ease of access to the shower and controls was a key consideration

The front edge of the toilet was visibly in line with the doorway and did not invoke a sense of privacy or safety.

A hand held shower option, grab bars and a bench were installed for safety and accessibility. The couple decided not to go to the expense of moving to a curbless shower, but considerations were made for potentially assisting the wife from a wheel chair and into the shower.

The master closet door trim was impeded by the shower wall. Functional issues with the shower/tub also prompted the remodel.

The cabinet pulls that had been on back order for weeks finally arrived…but not until the day AFTER the photographer’s pictures were taken in order to meet the local NARI CotY deadline. [Follow up photos with pulls are included in this submission]
