Reflection of the Gospel:

Advent is a season of preparation. We

prepare our hearts and homes to celebrate

the feast of Christmas. We prepare spirit-

ually to greet Christ when he comes

again. And also look to how we can pre-

pare our world to become more and more

like the kingdom of God where love and

justice rule. Advent is a time when we

live this preparation in an intentional

matter, but waiting and preparing are

constant hallmarks of the Christian life.

Advent Season reminds us that we are Pilgrims and exiles longing for our home with

God.

El Adviento es una temporada de prepara-

ción. Preparamos nuestros corazones y

hogares para celebrar la fiesta de la Navidad.

Nos preparamos espiritualmente para saludar

a Cristo cuando venga otra vez. Y también

vea cómo podemos preparar a nuestro mundo

para llegar a ser más y más como El Reino de

Dios donde gobiernan el amor y la justicia.

El Adviento es un momento en el que vivi-

mos esta preparación en un asunto intencio-

nal, pero esperar y prepararse son sellos de

identidad constantes de la vida Cristiana.

La temporada de Adviento nos recuerda que somos Peregrinos y exiliados anhelando nuestro hogar con

Dios.

It’s Advent, It means coming. We await the coming of the Messiah. It is a time of preparation for the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, and likewise, a continuous preparation for his second coming. The Ordo gives us this guide: “Advent has a two-fold character, for it

is a time of preparation for the Solemnities of Christmas, in which the First Coming of the Son of God to humanity is remembered, and likewise a time when, by remembrance of this, minds and hearts are led to look forward to Christ’s Second Coming at the end of time. For these two reasons, Advent is a period of devout and expectant delight. We are already hearing a lot of Christmas songs. Malls and stores are already filled with Christmas decorations and also all kinds of commodities for Christmas. And soon it is Christmas day. Wait. We have to pause. We are just starting the season of advent. We are in fact just celebrating the first Sunday of Advent. And there will be three more. Let us not allow a commercialized Christmas to take away the essential part of our preparation which that of our hearts and our soul. We must be truly ready for the coming of Christ, the Messiah. Let us bring back Christ on Christmas. Prayer allows us to focus on the Lord who is the reason why we have Christmas. So let us enter into the spirit of the season of advent as we wait and prepare for the coming of the Lord.

Es Adviento, significa venir. Esperamos la

venida del Mesías. Es un tiempo de

preparación para el nacimiento de nuestro

Señor Jesucristo, y de igual manera, una

preparación continua para su segunda venida.

El Ordo nos da esta guía: "El Adviento tiene

un doble carácter, ya que es un tiempo de

preparación para las solemnidades de la Navidad, en el que se

recuerda la Primera Venida del Hijo de Dios a la humanidad,

y también un momento en el que, al recordar esto, las mentes

y los corazones son guiados a esperar la Segunda Venida de

Cristo al final de los tiempos. Por estas dos razones, el

Adviento es un período de deleite devoto y expectante. Ya

estamos escuchando muchas canciones navideñas. Los

centros comerciales y las tiendas ya están llenos de adornos

navideños y también de todo tipo de artículos para Navidad.

Y pronto es el día de navidad. Espere. Tenemos que hacer

una pausa. Apenas estamos comenzando la temporada de

Advenimiento. De hecho, estamos celebrando el primer

Domingo de Adviento. Y habrá tres más. No permitamos que

una Navidad comercializada nos quite la parte esencial de

nuestra preparación, la de nuestros corazones y nuestra alma.

Debemos estar verdaderamente listos para la venida de

Cristo, El Mesías. Volvamos a traer a Cristo en Navidad. La

oración nos permite enfocarnos en El Señor, que es la razón

por la cual tenemos Navidad. Así que entremos en el espíritu

de la temporada de Advenimiento mientras esperamos y nos

preparamos para la venida Del Señor.
