Pastor’s Corner As I mentioned last weekend, construc-tion on the sound treatments has been completed and we are now in the test-ing and adjusting phase. There is no doubt from the comments and compli-ments from you about the sound that the acoustics in our church have greatly improved. However, we still have some work to do regarding adjust-ments to the sound system to optimize its potential in light of the new acous-tics in our church. If you would be so kind, if you have any trouble hearing, please send me an email about it. In order for your input to be helpful, please include the place where you were sitting, which mic was being used, and the problem you encountered. We hope to have to system adjusted in the next couple of weeks, and I am very happy the progress so far, trusting that we will be able to make every seat in the church a place where all can hear clearly. Thanks again to those who helped to make this project possible!

In addition, this weekend kicks off the

Bishop’s Services Appeal (BSA), which is an annual appeal that helps to sup-port and sustain over 40 programs, ministries and services of the Catholic Church in Acadiana. Since 1973, the BSA has been Supporting the Works of Christ by serving others and minister-ing to those in need. Besides charitable endeavors, the BSA helps to support vocations and other services St. Pius X and other parishes need, but could not otherwise afford. Here at St. Pius X, we have benefitted greatly from services provided by the diocese, especially technical expertise in bookkeeping, ar-chitectural work and financial plan-ning. The goal this year, to be accom-plished through the combined efforts of our 121 church parishes and 28 mis-sions is $3 million dollars. New to the BSA last year is the opportunity for parishes to receive 50% of the funds collected that surpasses the parish’s goal of $134, 369. This could result in a significant amount of income for the parish, so I encourage you to prayerful-

ly consider the amount you will give this year.

Thank you so much for your support in the past years, and I hope you are able to contin-ue your gener-osity in an effort to provide hope, dig-nity and compassionate care in the lives of others through the programs, minis-tries and services supported by the Bishop’s Service Appeal.

To contribute to the appeal, please keep a look out for the campaign materials mailed to your home. If you don’t re-ceive the materials by next week, there are pledge envelopes and brochures in the Gathering Area. Additionally, you can donate online by visit-ing: www.diolaf.org/bsa then “Make a Gift” in the navigation menus.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Not many days ago, January 19-20, I had the privilege at all the weekend to share with you the vision of our UN-BOUND sponsorship program. I was moved by the out-pouring of your support.
