religious education programs is

underway for 2016-2017. Forms and

FAQs are available via the parish

website, the parish office, or from the

welcome desk in the Narthex. We are also able to

prepare children with special learning needs to receive

the sacraments. Please call Lisa Nueslein, our program

director, for assistance or questions. The Archdiocesan

Vacation Bible Camp (VBC) - VBC has been a

tradition at St. Paul parish for many years. It takes

many many volunteers to offer this week-long summer

program (workers are not paid for giving their time for

this week.) Unfortunately, we were not able to recruit

the volunteer base that would be needed to offer a

program this summer. So, Saint Paul parish will not be

offering VBC this summer. However, the good news

is that one of our parishioners has volunteered to

coordinate VBC for the summer of 2017. And we are

beginning the planning process now! If you are able to

contribute time and talent to our VBC for the summer

of 2017 please contact Margaret Kenny at

[email protected].

Reminder for Families of Candidates being

confirmed Sept 11, 2016 - If your student still hasn’t

fulfilled the requirements of our program, please see

the website listed below to access a guide to

completing all missed requirements. Over the summer

students should be finishing their Social Justice

Outreach Reflection and Acts of the Apostles self-

directed bible study. ALSO: Now that your teen is a

rising high school freshman, be sure to check out

our upcoming events for St Paul Youth Group this

summer and as the new school year begins in Sept.

Health Care Ministry - Near drowning or secondary drowning occurs when a person is

submerged in water and later develops breathing

problems due to swelling in their lungs. Seek medical

help if you notice symptoms of respiratory

distress: such as, increased breathing rate, flaring of

nostrils, retraction of ribs, paradoxical or see-saw

breathing like the stomach pops out and the chest

caves in with each breath. Drowning is death within

24 hours from suffocation by submersion in water. To

prevent drowning and near drowning

accidents: supervise when in or around water, never

swim alone, learn to swim and water safety, learn

CPR, air filled or foam toys are not safety devices use

life jackets, avoid alcohol, four sided fencing around

pools. For more information about water safety, see

www.cdc.gov.

School Supply Drive - Once again Faith Connections will be collecting

school supplies to benefit needy

students in the local Damascus-

Clarksburg schools. Last year, with

the generosity of our community, we provided new

school supplies and backpacks to 180 students who,

without help, may not arrive at school with necessary

supplies such as pencils, pens, crayons, notebooks and

paper. Help needy students in our area have a bright

start to the new school year by donating new school

supplies. We are collecting: Backpacks, Lined paper

(college and wide ruled), Spiral notebooks,

Composition books, Pencils, Pens (blue, black and

red), Crayons, Markers, Colored pencils, Erasers and

eraser caps, Safety scissors, Glue sticks (not regular

glue), Dividers (5-7 subject) and Pocket folders.
