MESSAGE FROM BICS IMAM
JazakAllah Khair
Ebrahim WaleleImam and Masjid Project Manager
To Whom it May Concern,
Assalam alaikum,
Bracknell Islamic Cultural Society (BICS) has been an active charity for more than 10 years serving the Muslim Community of this area. Bracknell is located within 30 minutes’ drive from neighbouring towns such as Reading, Slough and Camberley, and close to known venues such as Ascot racecourse, Legoland and Windsor Castle.
Alhamdulillah we have a growing Muslim Commu nity within the Bracknell district and there is now a need to establish the First Masjid in our area. Subhan Allah, it is true, there is not a single masjid in Bracknell and the surrounding area and the Muslims in Bracknell are entirely reliant on hiring public venues to pray the 5 daily prayers, jumuah prayers, taraweeh in the month of Ramadan and to facilitate educational classes. The Masjid will fulfil the purpose of establishing the worship of Allah and the vision is for it to become a centre of excellence for education, learning and development of the community Insha’Allah. One of our key aims is to build bridges of peace and unity across our multicultural society. We pray that our mosque will become a focal point for exceptional interfaith relations and dialogue, supporting social and charitable causes across all parts of the community.
Please take some time to read through our masjid project brochure and together we can establish the first Masjid in Bracknell brick by brick. Insha’Allah every Quran recited, every salah prayed, any good deeds which are done in this masjid will automatically be deposited to your good deeds when standing in front of Allah. Do not let this opportunity pass without donating today!
We are desperately in needs of funds to secure the building we have identified for the first masjid project. If you have any questions after reading this brochure please pick up the phone and call us or visit our website for further details. Most importantly please pray for us and the ummah that Allah guide us all to the straight path and unite us in jannatul firdous under his throne Ameen.
We look forward to your support and we pray to Allah to grant you the reward of whatever positive impact our Masjid produces inshaAllah.

The first decision of our Prophet Mohammed “Peace be upon him” after entering Al Medina, was to build the Masjid of Quba. For us as Muslims, our religion is an integral part of our daily life and a holistic approach to our personal and community development. The role of the Masjid has always been instrumental and central for Muslims, hence this is a unique project as there is not a single mosque within Bracknell and the surrounding area.
CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
The number of Muslims in the Bracknell area has increased from over 2500 as per the2010 census and is still increasing. The current prayer room (Mussalah) space is very limited and insufficient to cater for the needs of our growing community in Bracknell.
GROWING MUSLIM COMMUNITY01
ISLAMIC EDUCATION03
We are reliant on ad-hoc hiring of public venues for prayer; we regularly rent three separate areas: Prayer room (small business office) for the daily prayers, Bracknell Leisure Centre for the Jumuah prayers (+500 person) and the Open Learning Centre for Taraweeh prayers.
NO PERMANENT FACILITIES02
SOCIAL AND RELIGIOUS SERVICES04
THE PROJECT CASE
A lack of structured facilities makes it challenging to consistently provide Islamic education to the Muslim and wider community in Bracknell, especially for children and reverts. A ‘Madrasah’ is needed to provide young Muslims with a religious foundation in Qur’anic recitation and Islamic knowledge and values.
Our new Mosque will be a key anchor in helping us provide guidance to our youth on today’s prevalent issues; such as drug and alcohol abuse, bullying, poor diversity and inclusion, and the prevention of religious extremism. This will also help to build bridges of peace and unity across the wider Bracknell community by coming together for the common good.

Bracknell Forest Council has kindly supported BICS to identify, and make an offer on, an open-plan, cellular office facility with significant potential. This is a self-contained, standalone building with excellent space configuration and room for growth, good/modern impression to visitors and worshippers, reasonable proximity to suppliers, local community, facilities, amenities, no congestion charges or delivery restrictions. Whilst the building has 40 private parking spaces, there are numerous additional public parking spaces nearby.

OUR TEAMTalent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.
In 2017, BICS took the decision to put together a project team who are all working on a voluntary basis to facilitate the creation of the Masjid and Islamic centre. This team consists of a core group of members who meet on a weekly basis to discuss the Project and a second team of volunteers who meet fortnightly/monthly to assign tasks and deliver according to the core group objectives.

REFERENCE LETTER
16 April 2019
Sincerely
Sheikh Farid HaibatanCEO MRDF
To whom it may concern,
Assalam alaikum,
I have known the Bracknell Islamic Cultural Society for the past 5 years. They have been a registered charity for over 10 years serving the Muslim community and beyond in Bracknell.
In 2017 the committee formalised the 1st Masjid and Community Centre project and are now in the process of raising funds for this project. I can confirm that the community is striving towards following the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah.
The 1st Masjid and Community Centre in Bracknell will be a centre of excellence for the worship of the creator, social and community services to Muslims in Bracknell and to provide educational services about Islam to those of other faiths and backgrounds.
I would highly recommend you to support this initiative. It is a ceaseless charity and one which will repay you dividends on the Day of Standing God Willing.

2 March 2018 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Dear Sir or Madam Bracknell Islamic Cultural Society Letter of Commendation to Portsmouth RC Diocese I have been asked to provide you with a letter outlining the Council’s involvement with BICS over a number of years. We have supported BICS to search for a permanent location in Bracknell for their activities over a number of years. This has proved difficult for them due to a lack of availability of suitable land and buildings and the cost of such premises. To support BICS while they were searching since 2009 they rented the building that was previously Harmans Water Community Centre. This had been closed by the Council as unsuitable for full community use as it was very difficult to make fully accessible to disabled people and had significant maintenance costs. This was intended to be a temporary arrangement until the Council determined what to do with the facility in the long term. The decision took longer than anticipated and around 2016 BICS moved out. During their time in occupation they were model tenants and worked together with the other occupants of Harmans Water Square, including the Church. We had no complaints from residents about their use of this building and they showed respect to businesses and residents. When they had to move they were relocated temporarily to one of the Council’s office units which they still occupy. We are, however, aware that this is not suitable for their longer term needs. BICS have always been excellent tenants and have fulfilled all their obligations under the terms of the lease. The Council would, therefore, be very supportive of their desire to purchase the land on South Hill Road as a permanent base. Yours faithfully Alison Sanders Director of Resources CC: Cllr Paul Bettison
