VETERANS’ DAY
Daniel Fleetham Jr. Emcee
Veteran Thomas Stone The annual Veterans’ Day program was put on by the Canaan, NH, American Legion Weld-Webster Post 55 in honor of David Barney who passed away. Emcee Daniel Fleetham, Jr., and Post Commander Douglas Guthrie led the program with each attending Veteran introducing them-selves and giving a brief description of their ser-vice. After the introductions Ken Munsey and Sharon Carr (on the piano) led the assembly with the singing of each of the service songs, followed by “Over There” and “America the Beautiful.” In attendance were 22 veterans from all branches of service and many family members and friends.

WINTER IS COMING….
Winter Weather Closing Information
Please keep walkways and driveways clear of snow and ice. Our volunteers cannot deliver meals if they cannot get to your door safely. We very much appreciate your help.
Frozen or extra hot meals will be sent in antici-pation of bad weather.
When the center is closed there will be no pro-grams or services. Please remember to keep a frozen meal on hand in case we are unable to deliver.
Check for closing on WMUR-Channel 9 and local radio stations.
We are still looking for volunteers to decorate. Maybe it is something as simple as changing the table settings and door decorations; maybe more during the holiday season. If you have a passion to decorate or just want to contribute to the dining room, please let staff know.
We plan to put the Christmas Tree up
Wednesday, December 3rd. Please come to help us decorate
and stay for lunch.
Cardigan Mountain School Food Drive
On Monday, Nov. 17th several enthusiastic student senators from Cardigan Mountain School traveled to our Food Pantry. After several weeks of collecting boxes and bags of badly needed food items, the group brought them and the money they had raised—via a few “dress down” days, as well as a 50-50 raffle where the winner of the raffle generously donated his winnings to the cause—down to the Food Pantry. The students, faculty and families collected a total of 1,654.8 pounds of food (more than double the amount last year). Coincidently the amount of money raised was almost identical to the poundage—$1658.40. After lugging the food up a steep flight of stairs to the food pantry on the second floor of the senior center, these hardy senators were able to meet the senior center’s direc-tor and her assistants and see a few of the seniors who happened to be having a meal there at the time of the delivery. The boys were also treated to some delicious treats by the folks at the center as a special (yummy!) “thank you” for their efforts. Many thanks to all the students who be-came involved in this food drive in one way or another, to many of our parents for their partnership as well (during Parents’ Week-end and during other visits throughout the fall), and to the area teams who chose to collect food items and later donate the goods when they arrived on Cardigan’s campus for a game. Thanks also to Mr. Corey Lawson who headed the food drive effort, as well as Mr. Anthony Figueiredo the Student Senate advisor.
