CONTEST MECHANICS The contest is open to every grade five and grade six bonafide students of Maryhill College.

All contestants will answer the same set of questions in writing.

There are four rounds in each category namely: Easy, Average, Difficult and Clincher. The Clincher Round takes place if there is a tie.

All questions will cover words lifted from the “WORD FOR TODAY” from first to fourth quarter.

Questions will be read twice by the quiz master. On the first reading, the contestants should listen carefully and are not allowed to write anything.

After the second reading, the quiz master will say “GO”, only then the contestants are allowed to answer.

CONTEST MECHANICS The following are the allotted time for each round:

Easy – 10 seconds

Average – 15 seconds

Difficult – 30 seconds

Clincher – 15 seconds

After the time limit the buzzer rings, the contestants must stop writing and raise their boards with their final answer.

The quiz master shall read and verify the contestants’ answer. Points are assigned for each question answered correctly.

Easy – 1 point

Average – 2 points

Difficult – 3 points

Clincher – 5 points

In the easy, average and difficult round, ten (10) questions will be asked and in the clincher, as many as needed to break the tie.

CONTEST MECHANICS There is a corresponding score to qualify for the next category (at least or higher than):

Easy – 6 points

Average – 12 points

Difficult – 18 points

The contestants who will not reach the target passing score will be automatically eliminated.

After the last question in the difficult round, the total number of points of the remaining contestants will be tabulated.

The contestants who will get the first three highest points will be declared as the first, second and third place respectively.

Note: Non-compliance of the guidelines will be subjected for disqualification.
