A Fusion of Artists• We are fusing the artistic styles

of Mary Wallace and Ted Harrison

• We will create bright colourful landscapes where the ice is reflecting colours of the sun, just like Ted Harrison’s landscape paintings

• We will then impose a hand-made Inuksuk over top of our vivid backgrounds to juxtapose the beauty of the arctic, just like Mary Wallace’s paintings

• The end result will be individual paintings that create new concepts of arctic landscapes

Page 10: Mary Wallace Canadian Artist from Nunavut Specializes in painintgs for children’s books Focuses on Inuksuks contrasting surreal landscapes Intertwines

– First, we need to sketch in pencil our background• Focus on separating the colours and imagining either

the ‘Northern Lights’ or sunsets – these are beautiful for when ice reflects the colours

– Next, cover the pencil lines with white liquid glue – After the glue has dried, we will be using paint

(water colour or blocks) to fill in the sections– While our painting is drying, we will cut out our

Inukshuk’s out of black construction paper– After the painting has dried, we will glue our

Inuksuk onto the painting
