It’s been a dream of mine to see the Mayan Ruins and I

was finally able to make the journey to Chichen Itza last time I was in Cancun. I

knew this trip would take up the entire day but it was worth every second! The

shuttle picked us up at 7am and after picking up other tour-goers we were on our

way to one of the many cenotes (underground caverns) in this part of Mexico. Our

bus guide was incredible and kept everyone engaged and excited for a few hours

as he explained to us the history of the Mayan culture. The cenote was beautiful

and serene. There were actual Mayans dressed in traditional attire, beating drums

and singing. I felt like I was completely present in that time in history, when Mayans

would cleanse their bodies in the cenotes because they believed the water from

under the ground had special healing powers. I even indulged in a little swim. We

also stopped in a Mayan town where we were served lunch, and were able to shop

for beautiful handmade souvenirs. The afternoon heat was unforgiving, so I was

delighted that I was able to take an ice cold Pacifico on the bus with me as we

continued on to Chichen Itza. The day was already off to an amazing start, but I still

had no idea what was in store for me! Because I was traveling solo, I was a worried

about being alone and wandering around, but I met so many people on the tour

(including some of our members!) that I felt like I was traveling with a big family!

Chichen Itza was absolutely breathtaking and surreal. It is amazing to think that

people were able to build structures like this, using such limited resources.

My favorite structures were the step-pyramid el Castillo (the castle) as

well as a hand-ball court, the Temple of the Warriors, and an observatory

tower. This is a trip that I definitely recommend you take the time to do.

You do not want to miss the opportunity to see one of the new 7 wonders

of the world! Stephanie Saum

We have added a private dock to the beachfront area of the resort. This unique feature will be used for spa treatments and private dinners. Imagine the peace and relaxation you will feel as the sound of the waves and sea air restore and renew you - this is pampering brought to a whole new level! Our dock is also perfect for honeymooners or anyone wanting to share an exclusive, romantic dinner with their loved one. The ambience over the serene Caribbean waters is unbeatable – you will remember this experience forever. We are adding the final touches on our private dock and can’t wait for you to enjoy it!

As you may know, the waters and natural sea grasses are protected in the Isla Muejeres region in order to safeguard the delicate ecosystem. We recently have been allowed to carefully clean the sea grass in front of the resort and now have a beautiful clean and white sandy beach for you to enjoy. Look at the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos to see what a great job the resort did!

Dolphin Dive Center - LoretoThe Dolphin Dive Center is centrally located 1/2 block from the marina and minutes from the best hotels, restaurants and local artisan shops. Off the Loreto coast are five beautiful islands that are part of the Loreto National Marine park - Isla Carmen, Isla Coronado, Isla Danzante, Isla Monser-rate and Isla Catalina. This stretch of the Sea of Cortez is home to over 800 species of fish, unique to this area. You will see a wide variety of sea life – tropical fish, game fish, whales, dolphins, sea turtles, and sea lions. You might get to meet a giant manta ray, hammerhead or seasonal whale shark! Another amazing creature that migrates to the area in late summer and fall is the incredible 6 ft long Humboldt squid. The underwater land-scape is just as varied – an undersea rainbow of sea fans, coral and other invertebrates.

•Terrain - rocky bottoms, jutting walls, undercuts, overhangs, sprawling reef systems and several wreck sites.

•Temperatures – Water temperatures range from over 80°F (27°C) in the summer and fall to the high 60’s & low 70’s in the winter and spring months.

•Visibility - ranges from 50ft to 100ft+.

The Marieta Islands are one of the most important natural areas in México. This wonderful paradise constitutes one of the world’s biosphere reserves protected by UNESCO. The Marietas islands are a sanctuary for seabirds, turtles, dolphins, and scores of tropical fish that live among the coral reefs. Due to its rich marine environment, one of the most popular activities is snorkeling since there are a huge amount of coral reefs and fish. With our tour you will be able to enjoy not only sea life but all the surroundings of this beautiful place, due to our boat’s design we are able to reach more territory than any other boat in the area. You will have a unique experience discovering the wonders of nature while looking for dolphins, whales, giant manta rays, sea turtles and exotic birds during bird watching, all in their natural environment! This 3.5 hour adventure is offered at 9am or 2pm from Puerto Vallarta or Nuevo Vallarta.

Cabo Around TownA trek through the desert is absolutely spectacular. Desert hiking is best in the winter, with the temperature usually a pleasent 70˚. Still keep in mind you will need to drink a lot of water during your desert hike. The desert offers incredible rock formations, unique vegetation and wildlife native only to this region. Hiking can be for all ages and hiking in Cabo’s desert is something that you will always remember. There are many hiking and natural history tours which include fossil fields, challenging hikes into the Sierra de la Laguna and day trips to old mining ghost towns.

Garza Blanca Resort Update

Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa welcomes its newest restaurant, BocaDos STK. It’s a magnificent addition to the culinary experience that our resort has to offer. BocaDos STK reinvents your classic steak house by creating a fresh new concept combining worldwide contemporary flavors, with a menu that offers small light bites. All of our dishes are meant to be shared between you and your friends and family.

We offer an open kitchen grill design that rein-forces a innovative and modern atmosphere. Quirky décor and funky beats add to the ambience of this intimate, stylish restaurant and lounge.

The cutting edge menu showcases an international fusion between Latin and Asian cuisine and the finest meat cuts through a variety of small bites or “bocados.” Do your appetite a favor and visit BocaDos STK. You won’t regret it.
