Ultimate Interior Shade for Sliding DoorCartridge Replacement

ABSTRACT: The following instruction is for replacinga cartridge in an Interior Shade on a Ultimate SlidingDoor.

Usage Date: 10/31/16 to present.

WARNINGWARNING

NOTE: The shade cartridge (fabric and pull bar) isalways attached to the stationary jamb of the surround.

1. Remove covers.

2. Remove pull bar from old cartridge ((unless it is theshort side of an OXO (it will be removed later on)and set aside. See figure 2.

3. Secure old cartridge fabric and remove #8 x 375screws from cord stops. See figure 3.

4. Remove cord stops, remove string from cord stops,and set the cord stops aside. See figure 4.

Level Phillips screwdriver

Small pliers Box cutter/utility knife

Impact screwdriver

5. Remove cartridge and discard.See figure 5.

6. Press the frame adapter into the receiving slot onthe frame and tighten the four #8 x .375 screwsholes in the frame at top, bottom, and springlocations.

7. Align the shade end caps to straddle the headjamb and sill tracks See figure 7.

8. Thread the cords into the screw holes of cord stopsand slide the cord into the slot, make sure the cordend is fully retracted into the cord stop. Pull andcheck to ensure it is secure. See figure 8.

9. Unhook slide tensioners from springs to add slackto the cord. See figure 9.

10. Use #6 x 1/2" screws to attach the cords stops tothe pre-drilled holes in the frame with the screwside pointed toward the new cartridge. When thecords are tightened the strings will cross over thescrew head. See figure 10.

11. Attach slide tensioners to springs. See figure 11.

12. Add pull bar removed in step 3 by adding #7 x 1/4"screws into the pre-drilled holes. Hand tightening isrecommended. See figure 12.

13. Use the slide tensioners to adjust the cartridge sothat the pull bar is vertical and the shade is held inplace. See figure 13.

IMPORTANT

OXO add the pull bar prior to the cartridge installation.

IMPORTANT

Add cover installation in correct order as last step

14. Check the pull bar for vertical alignment and springtension. Top and bottom springs should bebetween 3" and 3 1/2" (top and bottom springsneed to be equal) and center springs 2 1/2" to 3".See figure 6. Check vertical alignment by operatingshade to the center jamb or panel stile to use as areference point and use a level.

15. Install jamb covers by setting the cover into the sillextension. Start at the bottom and push the coversin so that they are slightly recessed into the jambextension. See figure .

This step may require two people depending on thesize of your door.

16. Install header cover by inserting the vinylconnecting barbs on the backside of the head jambcover into the kerf into the head jamb shadereceiver. See figure 7.
