IntroductionMaruti Udyog Limited was established in
February 1981.A Joint Venture agreement was signed
with the Suzuki Motor Company of Japan in Oct 1983
Commenced production in1984 with the Maruti 800.
On 17 September 2007, Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL) was renamed Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
• The car was launched in 1984 • Maruti 800 is on based on an older version of Suzuki
Alto,the SS80.• Sold more than 2.7 million units since 1983.• The Maruti Suzuki 800 rolls out in four variants: Standard
MPI BS III, AC MPI BS III, DUO Standard BS III and DUO AC BS III.
• All the variants are available in metallic and non-metallic versions
• Competitive price, which meant the car was affordable even for low-income individuals and families.
• A complete package car cheap to buy, cheap to maintain and cheap to run.
• A major facelift was given in 2005 , later some cosmetic changes in 2008
