COMMENTS

The Marten 49 is a high quality yacht, full carbon build and high standard of interior finish also. Ginger is hull number 011 of 15 built. She was ordered new by her current owner and custom finished for him. The yacht has been specified mainly to suit a family use and cruising in the Mediterranean, but also to be able to sail competitively in regattas. However, actually Ginger only made one regatta, the Les Voiles de St Tropez in 2009. Ginger has many extras over and above the standard build specification. She has been maintained in top condition and has seen light family use – less than 7000 nm on the log and the engine has only approx 700 hours. Most of these boats were raced a lot – not this one! Other sister-ships have raced more competitively and always done well – in Australia, and in Europe. CONSTRUCTION The yacht is built in accordance with the European CE -Certification and meets the requirements of the CE - directive 94/25/CE for recreational crafts. The hull is constructed with carbon fibre using the SPRINT build system with CoreCell foam cores. It is reinforced at high stress areas with carbon fibre. The bulkheads, structural frames, longitudinal and the centre case are constructed from carbon SPRINT materials with CoreCell foam core. Decks are constructed from carbon with foam core. Details for flush hatches; cockpits, lockers and lazarette access hatches are moulded into the deck during construction. Ginger has a teak laid side decks as extra to standard. Chain plates are of carbon fibre built into hull laminate. Painting - All exterior surfaces are painted with epoxy undercoats and Awlgrip 2000 polyurethane topcoat. Ginger has grey painted topsides. Underwater surfaces are coated with epoxy undercoat and International “long life” antifoul paint. All deck exterior surfaces (where not covered with teak decking) are painted with two pack epoxy undercoats and Awlgrip 2000 polyurethane topcoats. Medium grip non skid on designated horizontal areas. Interior - Joinery is lightweight cored panels, finished in a combination of painted or timber veneer surfaces. Veneer is Anegre. Semi gloss clear finishing. Lifting Keel Lifting keel is raised and lowered with a hydraulic lifting ram and dedicated hydraulic powered pump. Switch on main panel by chart table. Manual override is provided for emergency. Rudder The rudderstock is laminated with carbon fibre with a composite blade. Rudder bearings are JP3.

NOTES Whilst Ginger has no gen set or air conditioning (this owner did not feel the need and liked to keep the boat light) there is space and such items could be added by a new owner if wished. For longer distance cruising a water-maker would be a useful addition although for Med cruising this has not been found necessary
