Each year at the beginning of the Fall Quarter, Marshall B. Ketchum University awards over 200 scholarships, valued at over $250,000. Of these, approximately 36 are designated for students in the entering class. The value of the scholarships for entering students is typically over $88,000. Some scholarships are based on undergraduate academic credentials. Others require an essay describing volunteerism and community service. Still others are based on heritage, hometown, admissions essay, or positive spirit during the admissions process or financial need. For the Class entering in the Fall of 2014 (Class of 2018) 36 students were awarded scholarships totaling almost $88,000.
In the Fall of 2014 the following scholarships were awarded:
SPIRIT/COMMUNITY SERVICE
• Dr. Vincent and Nina Conlon Scholarship – one at $2000
• National Optometric Student Association Scholarship – one at $500
• Robert Vinyard Scholarship – one at $1250
OTHER
• Arizona Vision Service Plan Scholarships – All Arizona students, amount varies based on number
• Woody and Dorotha Jarnagin Scholarships – All non-‐funded students from WICHE states, amount varies based on number
• Black Student Scholarships – $500 each • Dr. Reynaldo J. Carreon Scholarships –
All Mexican-‐American students, amount varies based on number
• Dr. Carolyn Caffrey Gabriel Scholarships – two at $2500 based on career change
• Vision for Excellence Grants – two at $500
• Dr. Steven Sokol Scholarship – one at $400 for a married student
ACADEMIC MERIT
• Alumni Association Scholarships – two at $1000 each
• Blake Family Scholarships – two at $1000 each • Drs. Fred and Betty Chelf Scholarships – three
