Known as one of today’s most gifted comedians. Michael Jr. brings laughter and understanding to audiences

“Just for Laughs” comedy festival in Montreal where he became the first comedian to ever appear live via sat-

ellite on ”The Tonight Show” which catapulted Michael Jr.’s career.

Now, Michael Jr. tours the country using comedy to inspire audiences to activate their purpose and live a life

One of the attractions that I was excited about when moving to this part of the country was Kings Island. I grew up going to

small amusement parks that really didn’t offer much as far as rollercoasters. My senior year of high school I went to Cedar

Point with some buddies and loved it, so I was excited to be living near an amusement park that was of that caliber. We went

on a youth group trip to Kings Island and I was ready to ride some rollercoasters, and then I rode The Banshee. When I got off,

I found out that some things had changed in my body since I was 18. The students I was riding with were ready to go on to the

next ride, but I needed a minute because, even though I had gotten off the ride, the world around me hadn’t gotten the memo.

I was dizzy and needed to hold on to the railing for a little while.

The older I get the more I realize that regular maintenance is important because you never know when something is going to

quit working like it used to. This past week my wife reminded me that I need to schedule my yearly check-up with the doctor

and the other day I threw out my neck drying off after a shower. Now I realize that I am probably coming off like I have no idea

what I’m talking about because I am still in my thirties. You’re probably thinking, “You think it’s bad now, just wait until your

[insert your current age].” While that is a lot to look forward to, I am also aware that any extra care I can give to my body now

will pay off later.

We understand the importance of regular maintenance when it comes to our body, car, lawnmower, or house. Those are

things that if we give them regular attention, they will serve us well for years to come. Regular maintenance is about the long

game, it’s about making choices now that will provide benefit for us in the future. But what about regular maintenance for

your marriage? When was the last time you gave your marriage a “check-up”? (And no, going out to eat at a restaurant for

your anniversary does not count.) Marriage is an important relationship that can be a source of great joy or great pain. Any-

one who has been married long enough to

get out of the “honeymoon stage” knows that

marriage is difficult and rewarding. The more

you intentionally invest in your marriage the

stronger it will be in the future.

You have an opportunity coming up in a cou-

ple of weeks to spend a day really investing in

your marriage. On September 27th, our

church is hosting a one-day marriage confer-

ence called “Marriage Night”. It is a great

opportunity to hear from some great speak-

ers and intentionally work together with your

spouse to strengthen your marriage. No

matter how long you have been married, you

still have more time ahead of you and this is a

great way to invest in the future.

It’s time for a check-up. Time to hit the treadmill, to do some stretches, kick the tires, check under the hood. Time to make

some changes now that will ensure years of joy for you, your spouse, your children and your family. We hope that this confer-

ence will be a blessing to you and we look forward to experiencing it with you on September 27th.

If you would like to sign up visit https://events.rightnowmedia.org/attendee/site/2486

Grace and Peace,

Adam

The SOPC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are dedicated to ministering to young men and young women in our area

who may be facing an unplanned pregnancy or who may have faced one in the past. It is our desire to share the love of Christ

with each of our clients through our actions and our words. As we share the love of God, we are also able to minister to some

of our client’s most pressing needs.

Marsha Williams has placed special envelopes for

“Operation Christmas Child” donations at the entrances to

the worship center and also on the bulletin board down-

stairs. If you are able to help out with a donation, please

use these envelopes and place in the offering

baskets. (if you don’t have one of these envelopes, just be

sure to mark your donation “Shoebox”

If you wish to help buy or shop for items, please contact

Marsha Williams.

SHOEBOXES

The SOPC seeks to serve Jesus Christ by upholding the sanctity of human life, assisting individuals facing the challenges of un-

planned pregnancy, ministering to the emotional and spiritual needs resulting from an abortion, and promoting sexual purity.

You are invited, along with as many community members

as possible, to join an event at the courthouse in the center

of Hillsboro to pray in unity for our nation and our commu-

nity. This date was selected to correlate with the event

”The Return” and a prayer march to take place on the Na-

tional Mall in Washington D.C. We look forward to lifting

our voices in prayer, humility, repentance, and gratitude to

God with you.

PRAYER PENNY- A- MEAL

Yes, we are still collecting Community Market receipts. You may

put your receipt in the box with the white church on top that is

in the front foyer marked “Penny A Meal”. Also, be sure to pick

up one of the envelopes to use for your monthly donation to

Penny a Meal. You can put your monthly donation in the box

also!

THE CHAIRS ARE COMING

In anticipation of the arrival of the chairs, which will be 3 to

4 months, we intend to remove the “odd, taped off” pews

as soon as possible, removing the imposing “do not sit

here” placards. It will open up the space for us to freely

move about the worship center without crowding others.

That also means we will need to find a home for our pews,

whether that be your rec room, front porch or patio, or an-

other church. If you have interest in one of the pews let us

know and we can make that happen.

SR. HIGH YOUTH

The Sr, High youth will be meeting this Sunday, at 9:00 AM

in the Loft.

VOLUNTEERS

We are still looking for people who would like to help in

our children’s area Sunday mornings. Teachers, aides,

nursery workers etc. If interested, please contact Adam

Steele or Megan Apgar.
