Tim Carpenter is the Family Ministries Pastor at Bethany Church, and has been a member of the Bethany community for twelve years. Tim is passionate about God, God’s Word, and is a regular preacher and teacher at church. In his free time, Tim loves to spend time with Jenny, Stella, Hudson, and their dogs. He also enjoys all activities involving the outdoors.

Jenny Carpenter is a stay-at-home mom extraordinaire. She has been a member at Bethany Church for twelve years and has served in a variety of volunteer roles including being a member of the musical worship team, serving in the kitchen and speaking for various groups.

Drs. Paul and Virginia Friesen were married in 1976 and have three young adult daughters and two Godly sons-in-law. They both have Doctorates in Marriage and Family Therapy from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and are the lead resource couple at Home Improvement Ministries. The Friesens regularly speak at marriage, men’s, and women’s conferences in the US and internationally, are frequently invited to give family and parenting seminars, and have an ongoing ministry withprofessional athletes.

The Friesens have authored over ten books and curriculums on parenting and marriage, including Letters to My Daughters, In Our Image, Raising a Trailblazer, Before You Save the Date, and most recently, The Marriage App. Paul and Virginia’s greatest joy in life is knowing that their children are walking in the Truth.

MAKING MARRIAGES FLOURISHMarriage was designed by God to be a source of joy and blessing for the couple, their family and the world. Unfortunately, many are deeply troubled and are a source of more pain than pleasure. If we know why they fail and also what would make them succeed, we would be “rich” in blessings. Fortunately, God has given us this wisdom. During the weekend, we will learn biblical principles that will correct current or potential problems marriages face. We will also learn critical principles and practices that will ensure positive growth and future blessings. The focus will be on returning to God’s design, which we all miss as a result of walking in the wisdom of the world instead of the wisdom of God.

PRAYERFifty couples attend the Marriage Weekend every year. Couples attend the weekend for different reasons and with different expectations. What is the same, is each couple’s commitment to invest in their marriage. And that’s what we, as a marriage team, pray for. All couples attending are assigned to one of our ministry couples for prayer. As a team and individually, we will be covering you and your marriage in prayer.

WHAT THE MARRIAGE WEEKEND IS ABOUTSeveral years ago the Marriage Team changed the name of the weekend from Marriage Retreat to Marriage Weekend. Why? A question we were being asked frequently was “Is your marriage in trouble? You keep going to those retreats – isn’t that helping you?” The Marriage Weekend isn’t about trouble, it is an investment. It is an opportunity to get away with your spouse to invest and grow in your love for one another. The weekend is filled with teaching, small group meetings, and individual time, worship, time to relax and chat with other couples and much more. For fifteen years, hundreds of couples have benefitted from this investment of time and we hope you will join us this year.

The cost for the Weekend is $400 per couple. This includes two nights stay, four meals, snacks, tax, tip, programs, and giveaways.
