The ropes you see on the back cover of this brochure had already completed nearly 40,000 nautical miles of hard racing over 10 months of sailing when the picture was taken.

It goes without saying that when circumnavigating the globe in a race against 7 other yachts, the ropes on board experience the best and worst conditions that the Southern Ocean, Atlantic and Pacific have to offer!

The Grand Prix Series was developed and is continuously improved through our long experience with high performance race teams and feedback from our global network of specialist Grand Prix Riggers.

The Grand Prix Series uses materials such as Dyneema® SK90, Zylon®, Technora®, Kevlar® and Teflon® to offer upgrades to covers and cores such as higher strength, improved abrasion resistance, better thermal properties, higher (or lower) friction and improved winch handling properties.

Marlow has developed a torsion rope for use on top down furlers.

Like most headsail furlers, the furling is controlled by the furler drum at the bottom of the sail. The turning force is transmitted through the length of the ProDrive cable to turn the swivel which is connected to the head of the sail. The tack of the sail is connected to a freely floating point on the drum of the furling unit. The turning force acting at the top of the sail only, causes the head of the sail to furl first and ensures the sail furls down the cable neatly.

The unique requirements of top down furling forced the development of a unique rope construction. Parallel aramid core, tightly braided aramid jacket with a polyester cover ensures ProDrive offers the best torsional stiffness on the market.

Marlow took a good look at why mooring lines usually fail – abrasion through wear or breakage from shock loads. Mooring lines are often replaced due to the cover being worn out or the rope looking scruffy or it’s become too hand to handle effectively.

New Marina Grande dock line has been specifically engineered using Marlow’s Opti-Twist yarn to give outstanding abrasion and shock absorbing properties. With a hardwearing 24plait cover and manufactured using 100% polyester, Marina Grande maintains an outstanding durable presentation without shrinkage or loss of strength.
