Markings for Products and Packages

Abstract

This document contains the collection of preferred markings for marking of products and packages.

Application

When a marking layout according to this document is chosen, it should be referred to in the document survey 1095- for products and packaging.

Marking product number shall be included in the manufacturing specification, 131 32- for product and package.

This marking instruction can also be referred to if other techniques for marking of products are used, i.e. laser marking of Printed Board Assembly (PBA). This instruction in such cases gives information about the layout, to ensure minimal differences in the finished marking of e.g. a PBA.

1 General

The finished marking is intended as product and package identifying marking in indoor and/or outdoor environments.

2 Marking Construction

The markings consist of a base label, a print file with position information for text, Ericsson logotype, symbols and in some cases one or several barcode fields.

The product specification for the base label, 1301-LZF xxx xxx/x, is a document with information about the label size and label material.

The layout file, n/190 02-xxx xxx xxx/x, is a printout specification where the specific information (i.e. product identity, marking text, symbols, etc.) for the product to be marked is specified and positioned. For some the information is variable, like product number, R-state, marking text, etc., and shall be added at time for printing the marking.

The specific product number, R-state and functional description (marking text) shall be obtained from PRIM or PIS and serial numbers (where applicable) shall be created according to document 0012-101 Uen.

3 Printing Markings

For the production of markings, print files (n/190 02-xxx xxx xxx/x) shall be used for printing on labels LZF xxx xxx/x, with corresponding ink ribbon.

A "(DI)" in front of an identity visualize that it also exists in a coded format. Information about Data Identifiers are given in 1/198 18-FEA 104 702 Uen.

NOTE: The parenthesis “( )” around a Data Identifier, DI, e.g. (DI), shall not be included in the bar code or 2D symbol as they only are used to show and separate the actual DI in human readable text from the actual identity.

3.1 Modification of Print File

If needed, for system adaptation, field names in the print file are explained in document 1/198 18-FEA 104 702 Uen.

If other printers are used which cannot understand ZPL II, printer language for printers used within Ericsson, and new print files are to be created, font Arial shall be used, according to document 1041-402 Uen. The layout shall be according to the examples in this document, and the original print file can be used to help sizing and position the information.





4 Product Identity Markings

For actual dimensions of label and layout use the related product specification documents 1301-LZF…and related print files.

These markings are intended for deliveries to Ericsson which NOT are intended for onward deliveries to Ericsson customer. Product package that is intended to be delivered unpacked (no repacking required) to Ericsson customer shall use markings in section 5.1.

A product packaging marking can also be a duplication of an existing product identity marking label if it includes country of origin (Made in).
