The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) is a junior golf organization dedicated to providing exceptional junior golfers opportunities to develop and showcase their competitive skills while setting high standards to preserve the traditions and integrity of the game. The IJGT is nationally and internationally recognized as one of the largest school year golf tours with more than 2,000 junior golfers representing 45 states and over 43 countries. During the academic year, IJGT will conduct over 60 nationally ranked tournaments comprised of male and female golfers ages 9-19. The IJGT is part of a much larger junior golf organization that spans beyond tournaments and competition. Junior Golf Corporation (JGC) is the operating entity for International Junior Golf Tour, Hank Haney IJGT Asian Circuit, Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (HHIJGA) and Heritage Academy. Hank Haney IJGT Asian Circuit is an extension of the IJGT and consists of 7 tournaments in 6 different countries including South Korea, Philippines, India, Thailand, Japan and China. With over 2,000 participants in the 2010/11 season, the Tour is pleased to announce expansion with more tournaments added in new countries as well an increase in our number of tournaments for the 2011/12 season. The HHIJGA is a full-time junior golf boarding school and offers a variety of other golf training programs. The academy is the only one of its kind, encompassing: golf training, academics, fitness, mental training and competition for serious junior golfers. Hank Haney and his elite teaching and coaching team train over 150 full-time junior golfers from all over the world looking to improve their game and pursue a competitive career in golf.

Heritage Academy is one of the country’s leading private middle and high schools dedicated to providing progressive differentiated instruction for students. The students that attend are pursuing an extra-curricular passion ranging from tennis and golf to equestrian and are committed to accountable global citizenship.

The IJGT is committed to the notion that young people find success in being surrounded by highly motivated peers and adults in a competitive and supportive environment. With a series of over 60 tournaments over the course of the year, the tour provides a forum where talented juniors can discover that hard work, dedication and perseverance build the character of a champion. Throughout the season,

the IJGT will provide the highest quality junior events while visiting some of golf’s most prestigious courses including TPC Sawgrass, Pinehurst, Bethpage, Harbour Town Golf Links and Kiawah Island.

DESCRIPTION:The IJGT seeks well-rounded applicants to serve as marketing and communications interns. The marketing and communications intern(s) will report to the Marketing Manager and work alongside the Player Services department to assist with all aspects of tournament marketing and public relations in conjunction with IJGT events. All interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of golf administration, marketing, preparation and implementation on a weekly basis.

SUMMARY:Marketing – Interns will showcase and further develop their understanding of marketing principles through the evaluating, planning and implementation of marketing strategies to further the IJGT brand (50%).

Market Research – Assist with research, investigation and preparation of e-mail database lists related to possible entrants in IJGT events

Branding – Work with Graphic Designer to develop online and print advertisements, marketing materials, and other collateral

Event Promotion – Develop and produce a marketing program to help promote IJGT membership Publishing – Production and dissemination of literature i.e. tournament program, membership

handbook etc. Event Planning – Assist in the development of event agendas Seminars – Coordinates and assists with the marketing activities which may include customer

events and surveys

Communication – Interns will be responsible for the overall transmission of information to all customers of the IJGT, including: players, parents, coaches, prospective members, fellow junior golf organizations, sponsors, vendors as well as internal IJGT staff (40%).

Communication Planner – Monitor communication plan and strategy for uniformity in message, including but not limited to templates, tag lines and logo usage

Public Relations –Direct local marketing including investigation and preparation of documentation related to media, including press, television, radio and social media.

Corporate Blogs – Maintain and monitor IJGT blogs with up to date images, copy and announcements

News Writing/Journalism – Write and distribute press releases and produce media kits Client Relationship Management – Maintains database of advertising contacts Presentation – Establish and maintain a centralized archive of presentations and marketing

materials and communications as they relate to IJGT Education Strategies – Coordinate various outreach events to build IJGT membership

Media Coordinator – Interns will learn everything that is involved with media productions in and around golf tournaments and will work directly with the IJGT tournament operations staff (10%).

Tournament Day Operations - Serve as a starter and scoring official Print-Related Materials – Preparation of hole location sheets, local rules, tournament hard

card, evacuation plans, pace of play guidelines, scoreboards, scorecards, tournament schedule and tournament pairings

Photography – Regular photography updates to IJGT.com, social networking pages Post Tournament Materials – Produce event results and event press release Facility Follow-Up – Thank you letters for each facility and contacts after each event

QUALIFICATION: Sound understanding of the principles of marketing Good project management skills Excellent copy writing skills Creative and innovative Excellent attention to detail Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions Ability to write business correspondence Work under stress to meet deadlines Strong understanding of new technologies and how they can be applied to marketing Ability to work individually on self driven projects Demonstrate ability to solve problems and suggest appropriate solutions

STAFF UNIFORMS:Interns will be provided an assortment of IJGT gear. Interns are responsible for wearing matching slacks with their uniform while on tournament site and must wear appropriate business casual dress while working at IJGT headquarters.

HOURS:Work schedules will vary from week to week, but most days will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. A typical work week will be approximately 35 - 40 hours.

TRAVEL:Marketing and communication, 2011 interns will have the opportunity to travel to all local IJGT events, on Hilton Head Island, SC.

COMPENSATION:A bi-weekly stipend and housing will be provided for the length of the internship. Interns will reside in fully furnished condominiums (i.e. furniture, washer/dryer, full kitchen w/ appliances, internet/cable, work out facility and pool).
