2020 Decoy Festival Poster Contest
Well, decoy festival poster entries
are in, and they are sitting patiently
in the corner until we can all meet
again! Usually we have a great
meeting in April - everyone brings a
dish to share and the membership
votes on the poster entries, but we
were not able to do that this year.
We are hoping we can have a meet-
ing soon and vote then! Please
continue to check the Guild’s Face-
book page for updates!
Originally scheduled for May 9, 2020,
Loon Day has been postponed until a
later date...for more information about
the history of Loon Day, please visit the
Guild’s website at www.decoyguild.com!

The Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild would like to thank all of the many members, volun-
teers, competitors, sponsors, and patrons who made the 32nd Annual Core Sound Decoy Fes-
tival a GREAT success!!
THANK YOU to all of the wonderful volunteers that come out to help in so
many different ways...the Decoy Festival would not be possible with the help of
each and every one of you! THANK
YOU!!! A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS that helped to set
up! All of your help is greatly appreciated as all of our volunteers like to get home early to pre-
pare for the next two days of festival activities!
Thank you to all of the exhibitors that come to the festival, many who make long journeys to spend a week-
end each year in Harkers Island! Each of you, and your amazing talent, help make the weekend memorable! Also, a very special THANK YOU goes to the staff of Harkers Island Elementary School, as well as Min-
netta Nelson and Jack Davis, who go above and beyond to help throughout the weekend. Special thanks to
all the students and parents that worked so hard to help us have another amazing year!
A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the sponsors, benefactors, and donors!
THANK YOU to all the exhibitors who made donations-this is a great fundraiser for the Guild, and the continued support is greatly appreciated!
Since the very first Core Sound Decoy Festival in 1988, the Guild has chosen one carver (or carving team) to
honor each year. This honor is one that is bestowed on someone who is recognized as both a fine carver and
one who has made valuable contributions of time and effort to the Guild and/or has contributed to the general
improvement of decoy carving as a whole. The Guild is excited to announce that that Raymond Earp of Beaufort,
NC, is the featured carver for the 33rd Annual Core Sound Decoy Festival! Congratulations Raymond!!
Thank you to all of the carvers that entered the carving competition - it’s such a big part of the festival, and an
amazing event to watch. It is a great way to recognize all of the hard work that goes into making and painting a
decoy! Congratulations to all the winners (the winners list is available online at www.decoyguild.com!)
Casey Arthur gave a FANTASTIC carving demonstrations both Saturday
and Sunday at the festival...hope you were able to stop by and watch him for a
bit. We can’t thank him enough for sharing his time and talent with festival
attendees to show them what decoy carving is really all about - THANK
YOU CASEY!!
Many thanks to Davis Springle who headed up the decoy competi-
tion this year and did a GREAT job! THANK YOU!!!
Thank you to Blair Boyd for all of his hard work on the live auc-
tion!! It was a wonderfully successful auction!
A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to Gordon Allen for all the awe-
some photos of the festival!
And of course we can’t forget Timmy and Tim Evans, who always
makes time to include our festival in their busy schedules! They do a
FANTASTIC job with the live auction and we appreciate all they both do for
the Guild!
I’ve probably forgotten lots of people, so if there’s someone out there that
you would like to have recognized, please send me an e-mail (or note via
USPS) and I’ll be sure to tell them THANK YOU!!! (E-mail
