MARK PALMER

Me, Web presence and My Blog

Pecha kucha

20 slides of 20 seconds each, short and sweet, the opposite of me.

Relatively new form of presenting (created in 2003), designed to keep presentations quick and simple, and to avoid people getting stuck on one point and boring everybody.

About me

18 years old Born in Plymouth Chose this course entirely by accident I don't really have any experience for any

part of the course, but I still like it!

My blog

First blog I've ever had, and to be honest, it may be the last, although I plan on doing Video blogs in the future

I hate the idea of blogs, as I find them impersonal and somewhat boring, so I have actively chosen to make mine as simple as possible, as I don't like doing work on it

Page 5: Mark Palmer

My blog

I kept my blog as laid back and informal as possible

Short and sweet! I wanted to make the blog as quick to use

as possible, but I ended up with a mess really so I failed there

Blog styling

I made my blog green, as that is my favourite colour, and gave it a more interesting title banner, but overall I decided not to go crazy with the colours and graphics and just keep it nice and laid back, because I find it easier that way

If I did it all again

If I had the chance to redo my blog, I would jump at it.

Sometime I will get round to it! There's nothing strictly wrong with it, I

just don't like it as it is.

Stuff we’ve done-Mind Map

Just like everything else I did, I kept it simple, with just the bare facts about me, the different sections I made were:

Achievements Likes Hobbies Interests Influences Dislikes

Page 9: Mark Palmer

Rhetoric, argument and persuasion

Covered topics like Aristotle's Ethos, Pathos and Logos

Ethos: The personality and credibility of the person Pathos: emotional appeals to audiences judgementLogos: use of reasoning to construct an argument

Subjective writing

Here are some of the things I came up with in response to the questions:Define yourself in 3 wordsIrresponsible, loud, friendly

Define your position in 3 words if china were to declare war on britianScared, angry, wimpy

Page 11: Mark Palmer

Subjective writing

5 lies I tell about myself

“my feet are size 14”. they aren't, they're size 13, I just don't like the number 13

“I can swim”. No I cant, not at all, I just say that to avoid questions

“I wake up at 7 am every day”. massive lie there, only when I get woken up by somebody else is that the case

“I can play drums”. No I really cant not in any way I just like saying I can

“I love hot food”. I'm not brilliant with it, and I've never really had proper hot food, I just think it sounds impressive

Biographical Statement My name is Mark, but you may as well call me Marcus, everybody

does.I was born in Right here in Plymouth, in 1991, which makes me one of (if not THE) youngest on the course of digital art and technology in Plymouth Uni.I have lived here my entire life, and I went to school in the local area, so I thought I may as well carry on with the trend and go to the "local" uni, and I'm glad i did, even though this course wasn't my first choice by a long shot, but I'm happy to be a part of it, although I'm not exactly an academic, I never had amazing grades so I'm just amazed I got into uni in the first place!as well as my interest in the course, my other interests and hobbies include paying and listening to music, which is one of the most important things in the world to me, along side my family and friends , guitar, Young farmers, Driving, and many other things which I do every so often.I don't particularly know what to write, cos I don't really consider myself an interesting person, but this pretty much sums up what I'm all about, so there you have it!

Personal Development Plan

3 academic goals, and 1 career goal This exercise was probably the most

helpful one I've done, as it gave me a chance to see what I wanted to accomplish and how long if would have to do it.

Plus I had never done anything like this before

Page 14: Mark Palmer

Manifesto

I went bonkers with this and ended up ranting on for no real reason about random rubbish

I eventually wrote two manifestos, which probably wont sway anyone's opinions

Page 15: Mark Palmer

Manifest 1-Musical instruments

My first Manifesto A.K.A rant was about the fact that I play a musical instrument (guitar) and so I think everyone should.

Page 16: Mark Palmer

Manifesto 2-Video games

Another rant on a topic of interest to me, this was a lot more convincing as an argument, as I used evidence and provided both sides of the argument, as opposed to massive bias.

Web presence

My website- Simplymarcus.co.uk Made as basic as possible so it doesn't

break Styled in a similar way to the blog, with a

single colour for the background and a nice banner.
