Regina O'Connor, l.(J~, retired teacher HM z~ v ht.s NEWMARKET-Miss Regina O'Connor, a resident of Silver Spring, Md., since 1976, died Friday, Aug. 19, 1983, at Colonial Villa, Silver Spring, after a long illness. The daughter of the late James A. and Mary E. (Sullivan) O'Connor, she had spent her early life in Dur- ham and Newmarket and attended schools there. She began her education in a one- room schoolhouse at Durham Point, and when the family moved to New- market attended school there, gradu- ating from Newmarket High School in 1909. She received a B.A. degree from the University of New Ham- sphire in 1913 and a M.A. degree from Connecticut Teachers' College. She taught in several secondary schools in Maine and transferred to Amesbury, Mass., High School where she was chairman of the Eng- lish department and dramatic coach for seven years. Prior to retirement in 1960, she was on the staff of New Britain, Conn., High School for over 30 years. During her lengthy teaching ca- reer, she received many honors in recognition of her contribution to ed- ucation. Survivors inluce nieces, nephews and cousins. Born October 17, 1919 in Youngs-ville, Pa., he was the son of ThomasL. and Ida Mae (Donaldson) O'Con-nor.

He was raised in Meadville, Pa.,had lived in Jamestown, N.Y. for 40years, and had resided in Newmar-ket for the past eight years.

He served in the Civilian Conserva-tion Corps in 1938.

During World War n he served inthe Army. He fought in the Battle ofthe Bulge and was a recipient of thePurple Heart.

He was an active life member ofthe VFW Post No. 53 in Jamestown.

Tom was a member of St. Luke'sEpiscopal Church in Jamestown.

For 34 years, he was employed atAutomatic Voting Machine in James-town. For the past five years, he wasemployed by Rockingham Securityat Kingston-Warren in Newfields.

He was a member of the Robert G.Durgin A.L. Post No. 67, HistoricalSociety, and Senior Citizens, all ofNewmarket.

Survivors include: his wife of 43years, Dorothea (Green) O'Connor of!'iewmarket; two s0i!~,- ~~~ _M.

Birch Dr., died at Exeter Hospital Tuesday, April 6, 1993.Mr. Osgood was born June 30, 1932 in Newton, the son

of Joseph B. and Margery (Cooper) Osgood.Retired after 21 years of Army service in the Special

Forces as a 'Green Beret' in 1970, he served in Korea andVietnam.

He owned and operated an excavation business while re-siding in Brentwood. He had resided in Newmarket since1977 and was a well-known sportsman. He was an activemember of the Rob.ert G. Durgin American Legion Post#67 and the American Citizen's Club of Polish Descent.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Hide (Takahashi)Osgood of Newmarket; one son, Chesley D. Osgood, Jr.,of Newmarket; three daughters, Barbara Wright of Conto-ocook, Rita Osgood of Hampton, and Phyllis LaBrancheof Lee; several grandchildren; two sisters, Eileen Eno ofExeter and Priscilla Carroll of Manchester; one niece andone nephew.

The Robert G. Durgin American Legion Post #67 con-ducted funeral services at the Kent & Pelczar FuneralHome, Newmarket, on Thursday, April 8.

Margaret OwenCONCORD - Margaret Owen, 96,

of 33 Christian Ave., died on Friday,December 17, 1993at the HavenwoodNursing Home.

She was born J'uly 28, 1897in Ports-mouth, the daughter of Alice(Holmes) and E. Scott Owen.

She was educated at schools inConcord and at Mt. Holyoke College.

She was a secretary to the presi-dent of Yale Universitv in New Ha-ven, Conn., later returning to Con-cord to care for her mother.

She founded Appletree Bookstorein Concord which she operated forseveral years. She was a legallibrar··ian at the State Library in Concordbefore moving to Durham where shewas order librarian at the UniversityLibrary until her retirement.

She was a member of South Con-gregational Church in Concord andthe Community Church of Durhamand sang in the choirs at bothchurches.

For years, she was an avid climberand a member of the AppalachianMountain Club. She was also an ac-complished pianist.

Survivors include: Thelma Brack-ett of Concord, a 50-year companionof Margaret's; a cousin, CarltonOwen of Waltham, Mass.; two neph-ews, Derek Owen of Hopkinton andHarold H. Owen of Camden, Maine;four nieces, Penelope Gardner ofHopkinton, Julia Owen of Boston,Mass., Allison Foster of Los Alamos,N.M., and Megan Yost of NewCanaan, Conn.; grandnieces andgrandnephews.

There are no calling hours.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on

Saturday, January 8, 1994at South Congregation-al Church Chapel, Concord, with Rev. T. GregoryTurner, officiating, followed by a gathering atDerek Owen's farm.

She was a communicant ofSt. Mary's Church and was acharter member of t 11 eAmerican Citizens Club of Po-lish Descent. She was a me.mberof the National Polish Alliance.

Born Sept. 12, 1911, in Newmarket,the daughter of Jacob and Mary(Salwa) Dziedzic, she lived in New-market for many years.

A weaver, she had worked at New-market Manufacturing Co., PioneerManufacturing Co. and the GallantManufacturing Co. of Newmarket.She was later employed at Timber-land Shoe and Essex Manufacturingof Newmarket.

She and her late husband ownedand operated the Last FrontierHouse in Pittsburg for nine years.

She was a communicant of St.Mary's Church and a member of theNewmarket Senior Citizens.

The widow of Walter "Count"Olszanowski, who died in 1977, she issurvived by one stepson, DanielOlszanowski of Newmarket; fourbrothers, John J. Dziedzic, WalterD.Dziedzic, Robert F. Dziedzic, andDaniel J. Dziedzic, all of Newmar-ket; four sisters, Mrs. AnielaWojnar, Mrs. Helen Cassano, Mrs.Thomas (Frances) Birmingham andMrs. Dorothy Bizinski, all of New-market; many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will becelebrated at 10 a.m. Friday from St.Mary's Church with the Rev. JohnFinnigan, pastor, as celebrant. Buri-al will follow in Calvary Cemetery,Newmarket.

Thomas O'ConnorNEWMARKET - Thomas J. O'Connor, 73, of Sleepy

Hollow Park, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1993 at his home in New-market, after a brief illness.

Born Oct. 17, 1919 in Youngsville, Pa., he was the sonof Thomas L. and Ida Mae (Donaldson) O'Connor.

He was raised in Meadville, Pa., had lived in Jamestown,N. Y. for 40 years, and had resided in Newmarket for thepast eight years.

He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1938.During WorId War II he served in the Army. He fought

in the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of the PurpleHeart.

He was an active life member of the VFW Post No. 53in Jamestown.

Tom was a member of S1, Luke's Episcopal Church inJamestown.

For 34 years, he was employed at Automatic VotingMachine in Jamestown. For the past five years, he wasemployed by Rockingham Security at Kingston-Warren inNewfields.

He was a member of the Robert G. Durgin A.L. PostNo. 67, Historical Society, and Senior Citizens, all of New-market.

Survivors include: his wife of 43 years, Dorothea (Green)O'Connor of Newmarket; two sons, Timothy M. O'Con-nor and Michael T. O'Connor, both of Jamestown, N.Y.;a daughter, Laurie O'Connor of Newmarket; two grand-children, Matthew and Erin O'Connor of Sugar Grove, Pa.

He was predeceased by a son, Bradley J. O'Connor.A memorial service was held on Tuesday at the Kent and

Pelczar Funeral Home, 41 Exeter St., Newmarket, withRev. Albert Snow, rector of St. George's EpiscopalChurch, Durham, officiating.

Burial will be at a later time in Lake View Avenue Ceme-tery, Jamestown.

Edward F. O'Connor Jr.

(January 21, 1935 - September 12, 2011)

Barrington - Edward F. O’Connor Jr., 76, of Davis Lane, and formerly of Newmarket and

Durham, died September 12, 2011 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover.

Born January 21, 1935 in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of Edward F. & Ruth (Young)

O'Connor Sr. He was raised in Lawrence and his family moved to Canaan, NH where he

graduated from Canaan High School, Class of 1952.

He graduated from Plymouth State College in 1956, received his Masters from Boston

University in 1962, and did post graduate work at the University of New Hampshire.

He was a member of the Air National Guard from 1956-1960.

From 1957-1972 he lived in Newmarket and from 1972-1994 he lived in Durham. He and

his wife wintered in Zephyrhills, FL, since 1992.

In 1957, Mr. O'Connor came to the Newmarket School System as a teaching principal of the Elementary School. He

taught fourth grade and was school principal for three years and then became full time principal. Mr. O'Connor retired

from the Newmarket School System as Principal in 1992.

He was a member of the National Assoc. of Elementary School Principals, the N.H. Assoc. of School Principals, of which

he was president in 1975, and was a Charter member of the Newmarket High School Boosters Club. He enjoyed golf and

was a former member at Rockingham Country Club and Nippo Lake Golf Club.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Newmarket.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Rita (Parent) O'Connor of Barrington; 2 sons, Michael O'Connor of Newmarket,

and Brian O'Connor and his wife Becki of Lee; 2 daughters, Kathleen St. Cyr and her husband Craig of Barrington, and

Karen Curtin and her husband Thomas of Fairfield, Conn.; 5 Grandchildren, Lindsay and Kyle St. Cyr, Lauren O’Connor,

Cole and Jade Curtin.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 16th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter

Steet, Newmarket.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Newmarket, followed by burial in

Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.
