around Marine National Park arid I'-larine Sanctuary has been-identified as

area of 457.92 square kilometre and an area of 162.89 square kilometre as

Marine National Park was notified in 1982 and the entire SO\Jthern Coast of

the Gulf in Jamnagar district is ringed by a duster of 42 islands and imany

adverse environmental impacts on the Marine National Park and Marine

Sanctuary, it is necessary to conserve and protect" the area around the

protected area of Marine National. Park and Mar'ine' Sanctuary as' Eco

clause (v) and cla'use (xiv) of. sub-section (2) of secti.on 3 of. the

.Gaze.tte of India, Extraordirla"ry, vide notification of the Government of India

'io the Ministry of Envirbnment and Forests number S.O. 353(E); aated the·

29 th ' February, 2012, as required under sub-rule (3). of rule .5' of· the'

Environment (Prote'ctlon) Rules, 1986;iriviting objections and suggestions

from all persons likely to be affected thereby within a period of six.ty days'

from the date· on which copies: of the. Gazette containing the said

. notification were made available to the public; .

. And whereas, copies of the' Gazette containing the said notification

were made available to the pl,Jblic on the 29th February, 2012;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section

(1) and clause (v) and clause (xiV) of sub - section (2) of section 3 of the

Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29.of '1986) read with sub-rule (3) of

rule 5 ·of the Environ'ment (Protection) Rules, 1986, the Central Government

: hereby notifies the area up to a length of one kilometre from the coast;:: I

boundary towards landward side; an area within 20'0' metre from the 1

boundary of Marine National Park and Sanctuary towards seaward side and

to 5 kilometre and a width of 250' metre from the centre 'of the river: on

sensitive Zone (herein after calied as the Marine National Park and Marine . . .' . '. - ".

Sanctuary Eco-sensitive Zcin~) and also in exercise of the powers conferred

by sub-section (3) of section 3 of the saia Act, the Central Government

hereby constitute a State 'Level Eeo-sensitive Monitoring Committee

(hereinafter referred to as the SESZMC) and on and from the date of ,

publication this notification, the SESZMCshall monitor the compliance of

this notification, in accordance with the follp.wing namely:-

1. Boundaries of ,Eco-sensitive Zone.-, (1) The ·Eco-sensitiv.e Zone

(hereinafter refeFreci to as theESZ) towards landward side constitutes

an area of about 208.58 square kilometr:e' including 36 villages adjoining'

Marine National Park and SanCtuary and the boi.mdary()f the ESZ from

coastal bci~ndary towards land~ard, sfde ext~QdslJPto.alen9thofbiie

jdiometre which include either whole or part ,of survey nUrTIaers .upto

3. Activities to be prohibited, regulated or permItted within the

Eco-sensitive Zone.- (1) All activities' in the Marine National Park and .. ,

Marine Sanctuary E-eo-sensitive Zone shall be governed ,by ,the

provisions of tMe Environment (Pr~ection) Act~ 1986 (29 of 1986).

(2) The activities in the 'ESZ are" prohibited, regulated or permitted,'in , , ,

accordance with Annexure-Oto this ,nQtifi.cation.

(3) (a) No' new poHuting industries am::Jcexpansion of existing, industries

shall be allowed in the ESZ.

(c) The raw material (€r.lld", ()il) and finished product.carqi..ing,.ye'ssels

from the refineries shall not pollute the ESZ.

(d) No washing release of ballast Vliater or any hydro carbon: material
