Reliance Industries will by 2030 createor enable capacity to generate at least100 gigawatts of electricity from renew-able sources, which can be convertedinto carbon-free green hydrogen, itschairman Mukesh Ambani said Fridayas he outlined a 1-1-1 vision to bringdown the cost of hydrogen to underUSD 1 per 1 kg in 1 decade.The focus on generating electricityfrom renewable sources of energysuch as solar and wind -will help cutcarbon emissions in the world's third-largest greenhouse gas emitter.The same electricity, when convertedinto green hydrogen, can replace petroland diesel in automobiles and other fu-els in the industry, helping cut down onthe use of fossil fuels, carbon emissionsand reduce import dependence.Speaking at the International Cli-mate Summit 2021, India's richest mansaid Reliance will pursue the target of

bringing down the cost of makinggreen hydrogen to under USD 2 per kginitially and ultimately to bring itdown to under USD 1 per kg in adecade.Green hydrogen produced with re-newable resources costs betweenabout USD 3 per kg and USD 6.55 a kg.With abundant sunlight, India cangenerate over 1,000 GW of solar ener-gy on just 0.5% of landmass, he said.

Nine years after the En-forcement Directorate hadinitiated action againstFlipkart in connection withan alleged violation of theForeign Direct Investment(FDI) policy to the tune ofabout Rs 23,000 crore, its co-founder Sachin Bansal hasmoved the Madras HighCourt challenging it.Flipkart had issuedshares to its foreign in-vestors between 2009 and2014. Alleging that this wasin violation of the FDI poli-cy, the ED had initiated ac-tion in 2013. From 2013 to 2015, Bansalattended the inquiry pro-ceedings. Bansal submittedto the court that he did notobstruct the investigationand instead cooperatedwith the agency and sub-mitted the required docu-ments during this period.Subsequently, he did not

hear from the ED and be-lieved that the agency hadclosed the inquiry. Mean-while Bansal exited theFlipkart group in August2018 when it was acquiredby Walmart International.Against this backdrop,Bansal said on August 5this year he received a showcause notice from the Spe-cial Director, the adjudicat-ing authority under theForeign Exchange Manage-ment Act (FEMA), in Chen-nai, for commencing pro-ceedings under Section 16of FEMA. The show causenotice based on a complaintfrom the Deputy Director ofEnforcement in Bengaluruon June 28, Bansal said.

Reliance arm acquires 80% stake in Strand Life MUMBAI: Reliance Strategic BusinessVentures Ltd (RSBVL) said on Friday it hasacquired 2.28 crore equity shares of Rs 10each of Strand Life Sciences Pvt Ltd for acash consideration of Rs 393 crore.A further investment of up to Rs 160 croreis expected to be completed by March, 2023.The total investment will translate into80.3% of equity share capital in Strand on afully diluted basis, said the subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd.Strand was incorporated in India onOctober 6, 2000. It is a pioneer of genomictesting with bioinformatics software andclinical research solutions to healthcareproviders including clinicians, hospitals,medical devices manufacturers andpharmaceutical companies."The investment is part of group's digitalhealth initiatives to foster affordable accessto world-class technology and innovation-led healthcare ecosystem in India," saidRSBVL in a statement.

Dollar index sinks to one-month low of 92.151 before payrolls test The dollar sank to its lowest in almost a month against majorrivals on Friday, ahead of a crucial US jobs report that couldspur the Federal Reserve to an earlier tapering of stimulus. Thedollar index , which measures the greenback against six peers,was little changed at 92.207 after earlier touching 92.151 forthe first time since August 5. LIC picks up nearly 4% stake in Bankof India through open market opsState-owned Bank of India on Friday said LIC has picked upnearly 4 per cent equity shares of the bank through an openmarket transaction a day earlier. LIC has picked up nearly 3.9per cent (15,90,07,791 shares) of the bank through openmarket acquisition on September 2, 2021, Bank of India said.
