Meet Emma – our Kreativa Arts Tutor
Hi, my name is Emma and I am the tutor for the Kreativa Art class on Tuesday afternoon at Maribyrnong. I would say that some of the things I love to do are; paint, draw, go to art galleries and to see art films, or otherwise hang out with good friends having cups of tea and having long chats about everything. I also love to ride my bike around as much as possible, and one of my favourite local spots are places you can bike to along the Maribyrnong River. I also really love to play music; I play flute and guitar and also love to write songs. When I can get away from town I enjoy going camping in nature.
Church Street Children’s Centre
Church Street Children’s Centre is currently operating from Maribyrnong Community Centre while their building is under redevelopment.
The service provides a high quality intergrated service for children from 6 months to 5 years, with a 4 year old kindergarten program. The Centre helps families to meet their child’s educational, developmental, social, cultural and emotional needs.
The service is open Monday to Friday, 7am - 6pm. To enrol in care, children need to be registered with Maribyrnong City Council’s Early Years Central Registration System.
If you wish to view the Service prior to registering, please contact Church Street Children’s Service on 9317 5794.
Community groups
The Community Centre is the venue for a number of community groups that meet on a regular basis for activities or meetings. Below is a list of groups currently using the Centre. For information about these groups, please see administration staff or contact the group directly.
Venue Hire
Our Centre has various rooms available for hire on a regular or casual basis, depending on availability. All room hirers will have access to shared kitchen facilities. For more information or to arrange a time to view the space, call the Centre on 9032 4305 during business hours.
Saying “no” to paper cups
Did you know that paper cups cannot be recycled? They go into landfill! We’ve decided to say “no” to paper cups and use “real” cups. The cups are located in the Kitchenette. We only ask that you wash, dry and put away your cup after use.
Thank you May was a busy month as we celebrated Neighbourhood House week with a community dinner and also had a morning tea in support of the Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who helped make both events a success. Your support is always appreciated.
New programs In partnership with Australian Multicultural Community Services Inc. two new programs will commence at the Centre during Term 3 – CALD Mentoring, and English for Everyday Life and Employment/Computers for Beginners. Also starting in Term 3 is Kids Creative Playgroup and Balance Your Life. See inside for further details regarding these exciting new programs.
