The Krewe of Carnivale en Rio is the fastest growing Mardi Gras Krewe in Acadiana. Founded in 2005 by eleven friends with a passion for Mardi Gras Madness, the Krewe has the bold impact of Brazil, the fun nature of Mardi Gras and the fantastic reputation for throwing the best party around!The Brazilian theme for the krewe was heavily inspired by

Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. The costumes, dance, and wild spirit

core group invited all of their friends to be a part of this new adventure; over 250 couples decided to join!From those 250 couples, The Krewe of Carnivale en Rio has

now grown to over 335 couples and is accepting new members for 2017. The eveningsÕ entertainment began with a dance performed by court jesters Allison Elise Aucoin and Ellie St. Claire Hulin. Once again, the older krewe children were honored as royal monarchs from Around the World. This royal court of 7th and 8th graders, represented 20 different countries. The Noble Court, made up of 5th and 6th graders, accompanied the royal monarchs. The younger children of the krewe wore costumes especially designed to carry out the pageantÕs theme, ÒA Night At The OscarsÓ. They portrayed heroes and heroines from a variety of Oscar winning movies. A few included Paparazzi, Red Carpet, Oscar, Rocky, True Grit, Wizard of Oz, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Gone With the Wind, Star Wars, Beauty and the Beast, and Breakfast at TiffanyÕs. It was a night to remember!!
