Hi Claire, tell us about homeopathy...

Homeopathy is an alternative natural medicine which has been usedworldwide for over 200 years. Homeopathic medicine treats the personas a whole, rather than treating specic conditions in isolation. For example,if you were suffering from claustrophobia, depression and back ache, theconventional route might involve separate courses of treatment from differentspecialists; by contrast a homeopath will consider all symptoms together as a whole, and prescribea single medicine.

What are the remedies made from, who can take them and are there any side effects?

Homeopathic medicines (known as remedies) are made from animal, mineral and plant substances.Homeopaths prescribe remedies based on the ancient principle of like cures like, where a substancewhich can cause symptoms in a healthy person when taken in large doses, can be used in smallamounts to treat those same symptoms in a sick person. Homeopathic treatment has an excellentsafety record, there are no side effects and because they are non-toxic everyone can use them. What made you follow a career in homeopathy?I rst discovered homeopathy as a patient. After suffering with a variety of persistent symptoms

throughout most of my childhood and teens, for which conventional medicine was unable to helpme, I tried a homeopath. The results were amazing! After four years training, I qualied with adegree level Licentiate in Classical Homeopathy and began practicing in 2006. Im just completinga one year course in Advanced Homeopathy called the Sensation Method. I am a fully registeredand insured member of The Society of Homeopaths.

Who do you treat and how can people book an appointment?

I offer consultations for men, women, teenagers, babies and children. There are many testimonialson my website which detail their experiences. Appointments are available on Wednesdays,Thursdays and Fridays and cost adults: 70 (rst appointment), 50 (thereafter) and Children: 55

(rst appointment) 45 (thereafter). To book an appointment or for more information, please callor email.

What do you love about your work? Are there any challenges?

I love meeting new people of all ages from newborns through to the elderly, all with different lifeexperiences, and symptoms. To see these patients recover after homeopathic treatment when theyhad been feeling unhappy or unwell, or had physical symptoms they couldnt seem to shift, is just sorewarding. Finding the perfect prescription out of thousands of homeopathic remedies is my goal, and this can be challenging, but worth it for the positive results.

What do you love about living in the village?

I love that we have everything we need within walking distance. A few years ago when it snowedand I couldnt use the car, I learned to appreciate Odiham even more it didnt matter whether itwas schools, dentists, opticians, hair appointments, places to meet for coffee or lunch, cards and giftsto buy, or packages to post we have everything right here on our doorstep and surroundedby beautiful countryside!

    Inside OutDr. Charlotte Macgregor

In the midst of dreary weather were probably all wishing for thebrighter days of early spring. As the celebrations of New Year fade into

the background, our focus tends to move towards getting our house

and garden in order. A good old fashioned spring clean might not llus all with excitement, but theres something about taking stock, paying

attention to those things that we tend not to focus on routinely, that can

give us a little reassurance as we move forward. And the same goes with

    our emotional and mental wellbeing.

Taking stock emotionally and mentally entails paying attention to how

we are feeling, perhaps focussing on those routines and practices that

seem to foster wellbeing, and those that seem to reinforce less positive

experience. Too often people think of their emotional lives as something

almost outside of their control. Yet the relationships that we choose,

the attitudes that we hold towards ourselves and other people and our

routine daily behaviours are all vital components of how we feel. Thats

why taking stock of both the internal and external aspects of our lives is

equally important if we are to make choices that serve us well.

The children will make their own passports and spend a week nding out whatis special about their country, tasting different foods and enjoying newexperiences.

We are very lucky to have Jim Bernadin World Music workshops for all thechildren to participate in during the week.

Our PTA are supporting us as always, and have arranged for us to take part inthe Cash for Coins scheme. Children have been asked to collect any coins theycan to bring to school, old, new or even foreign coins can be collected, and 98pout of every pound raised will go directly to the school.

Children are being encouraged to look closelyat the different coins and identify wherethey are from. At the end of the weekthe children will take the coins toplot them on a huge world map. MrsForbes (PTA Chairperson) has beenvisiting each class weekly and iskeeping a tally of the weight of

the coins collected so far. Therewill also be a prize for the mostunusual coin!

Children in Early Years classeshave been learning about UKcoins and have had to buy theirmorning snacks by selecting theright coins.

Each class has chosen a place to nd out about: Maple Class Australia,Sycamore Class France, Apple Class - Brazil, Horse Chestnut Class Greece,

Oak Class Italy, Beech Class Africa, Hazel Class India and Lime Class - USA.

Cash for Coins at Buryelds Infant School

Children at Buryelds are getting ready tolearn about a variety of countries around theworld for their Culture Week.

Many thanks must also go to Lloyds Bank who haveagreed to help with all the money sorting andcollecting.
