News From LT Fred L. KeNT • VFw PosT 7907 Poway, Ca
Commander's Call
One more month completed and we are still running “hot, straight and normal”.
We have various issues come up from time to time, but nothing we can’t handle. However, we could always improve. Our biggest issue is dedicated Post volunteers. If we had more volunteers, we could expand our hours and serve more meals, but without an increase in volunteer service, we cannot afford the changes.
The Post Officers’ breakfast on the first and third Sunday of each month is continuing to improve in attendance and the quality and taste of the food is fantastic. So come on in and judge for yourself.
The events we and the Auxiliary have had were very successful. We have a busy month in March, and although all of the events are not money makers, it is the right thing to do for our veterans and first responders. Make sure you check the calendar of events in this newsletter and try to support.
Thanking God every day.
Don Stonecipher
From the auxiliary President
Happy March! Spring is in the air and the Auxiliary year is going by fast. Here is an update on our programs so far. In addition to the numerous volunteering hours, we joined together and we’re able to donate over $6000 to several Veteran’s programs this year! We are sending over $5000 to Cammies & Canines, $500 to North County Stand Down and $300 to our district. The district programs that our Auxiliary financially participates in are: Sunshine Fund (National Home), Marie Klugow Scholarship Fund, Voice of Democracy, Service Officer’s Fund, La Jolla VA Hospital Project, POW/MIA Military Asst. Program, Safety/Drug Abuse, Emergency Asst. (Disaster Fund), Veterans Games, Patriotic Art, and the district President’s Special Project. Thank you for all you do to help and support the Auxiliary.

NOMINATIONS
The Patriot • March 2020 2
From the senior ViCe Commander
Great work everyone, February was a huge win for our Post.
The officer breakfast is really picking up steam, we are still in the process of fine-tuning our system. Please come down and bring your family and friends for some great chow and conversation, the first and third Sunday of each month. You will not be disappointed.
March looks to be even bigger and better, so please take a look at the calendar. Thank you Sara Salazar for the outstanding flyers you design, your hard work is really appreciated and your effort is one of the big reasons we are having such success. I would also like to thank all the volunteers, you all keep the wheels turning.
Finally call me with your suggestions or complaints my phone is always on. 858-722-2207
Cheers,
Bill Kimble
From the Junior ViCe Commander
Comrades,
It seems impossible that I’m already writing for the March newsletter, this year is flying by.
Some very exciting things going on the Post for this coming month. Our Senior Vice Commander Bill Kimble has organized breakfast at the Post on Sundays cooked by our officers. I have to tell you it has been great fun cooking with Fernando, Jason, Bill K, and some of our Auxiliary members Mary S. And Karen K. Please bring your families and support us for a great breakfast.
Two big events coming up, "First Responders" dinner on March 7th, and "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans" dinner on March 28. Please help make this a success by supporting and attending these events.
Many of our members know I’m working on the first time we’ll be placing flags on our veteran headstones at the Miramar National Cemetery this Memorial Day in May. If you would like to volunteer to help or donate to this cause go to Miramarflagsofhonor.org and sign up. We need all the help we can get to accomplish this mission.
Thank you for your service.
