Visit our website: www.thesanctuarywatfordcogic.co.uk It is with much joy that I convey best wishes to one and all during this holy week. It is a time to reflect on the significance of the death of Jesus Christ and the equally important event of Christ's resurrec- tion from the dead. This death has brought about freedom from the nature of sin that had a hold over the world. At the same time, it has brought about unity with fellow Christians and a oneness in Christ. One of our youngest members has written on the beautiful subject of being one in Christ. God bless you as you read and I pray that if you are not a Christian then there will be a time of deep reflection, which I trust will bring about a significant change in your life. JOURNEY TO A NEW CHURCH FAMILY

My‎ husband‎ Geoffrey‎ and‎ I‎ had‎

been‎members‎of‎ a‎ ‎ long‎ ‎ stand-

called‎Westminster‎Chapel‎.‎‎

I‎ was‎ baptised‎ there,‎ we‎ were‎

Some‎ years‎ earlier,‎ Geoffrey‎ re-

a‎ visiting‎Minister,‎ that‎Geoffrey‎

would‎ continue‎ the‎Lords‎minis-

Fast‎ forward‎ to‎ August‎ 2015.‎‎

Pastor‎Joe,‎invited‎Geoffrey‎and‎I‎

to‎ join‎ COGIC‎Watford‎ and‎ out-

lined‎ his‎ vision‎ for‎ growing‎ this‎

branch‎and‎we‎were‎very‎excited‎

and‎wanted‎to‎be‎part‎of‎this.

I‎knew‎that‎we‎would‎leave‎West-

could‎ not‎ envisage‎ how‎ this‎

would‎transpire.‎‎

November‎ 2015-‎ tinged‎ with‎

From‎the‎very‎moment‎we‎joined‎

COGIC,‎ we‎ felt‎ much‎ love‎ and‎

part‎of‎an‎extended‎family‎and‎we‎

all‎found‎the‎transition‎so‎smooth‎

and‎seamless.

We‎find‎ it‎particularly‎refreshing‎

that‎ men‎ and‎ women‎ are‎ given‎

ifying,‎that‎the‎youth‎are‎also‎giv-

en‎ a‎ voice‎ and‎ are‎ able‎ to‎ share‎

and‎ run‎ the‎ service‎ on‎ Youth‎

Sundays.‎ ‎ These‎ opportunities‎

were‎ certainly‎ not‎ available‎ at‎

Westminster.

In‎the‎short‎time‎we‎have‎been‎at‎

COGIC,‎ we‎ have‎ been‎ touched‎

and‎ moved‎ by‎ the‎ testimonies‎

given‎ by‎ individuals,‎ and‎ we‎

firmly‎ believe‎ that‎ the‎ spirit‎ of‎

the‎Lord‎is‎with‎us‎and‎is‎guiding‎

all‎ our‎ footsteps‎ to‎ spread‎ the‎

have‎ to‎ say‎ that‎ I‎ really‎ admire‎

how‎ the‎ church‎ family‎ come‎ to-

WHAT EASTER MEANS TO US

We‎ live‎ in‎ a‎ society‎ which‎ turns‎

religious‎ events‎ into‎ commercial‎

opportunities,‎which‎is‎why‎East-

er‎is‎closely‎associated‎with‎choc-

olate‎ eggs‎ and‎Easter‎ bunnies.‎ It‎

is‎easy‎for‎many‎to‎forget‎the‎sig-

nificance‎ of‎ Easter‎ and‎ the‎ posi-

tive‎impact‎that‎it‎can‎have‎on‎our‎

lives.‎ Christ's‎ resurrection‎ is‎ the‎

foundation‎ of‎ Christian‎ faith,‎

therefore‎ we‎ think‎ that‎ it‎ is‎ im-

portant‎to‎focus‎on‎the‎ideas‎pro-

vided‎ by‎ the‎ scripture.‎ Corinthi-

ans‎ 15:54‎says‎ "the‎saying‎ that‎ is‎

written‎will‎come‎true-‎death‎has‎

been‎ swallowed‎ up‎ in‎ victory",‎ a‎

concept‎ which‎ is‎ connected‎ with‎

Christ‎ and‎ his‎ resurrection.‎ By‎

accepting‎Jesus‎as‎our‎saviour‎we‎

too‎ will‎ conquer‎ death‎ and‎ re-

ceive‎ the‎ reward‎ of‎ everlasting‎

life.

The‎ accounts‎ of‎ the‎ gospels‎ in-

form‎ us‎ that‎ Jesus‎ was‎ raised‎

from‎ the‎ dead‎ after‎ being‎ cruci-

fied‎ and‎ it‎ is‎ this‎ process‎ which‎

enables‎ salvation‎ through‎ Jesus,‎

who‎acted‎as‎a‎sacrifice‎ for‎all‎as‎

long‎ as‎ we‎ believe‎ in‎ Him.‎ Ro-

mans‎6:23‎summarises‎ this‎ idea-‎

"for‎the‎wages‎of‎sin‎is‎death,‎but‎

the‎ gift‎ of‎ God‎ is‎ eternal‎ life‎ in‎

Christ‎ Jesus‎ our‎ Lord".

We‎ think‎ that‎ it‎ is‎ important‎ to‎

spread‎ the‎ good‎ news‎ because‎ it‎

recognises‎ what‎ Christ‎ has‎ done‎

for‎ us.‎ We‎ should‎ celebrate‎ this‎

event‎ with‎ joy‎ and‎ never‎ forget‎

the‎true‎meaning-‎that‎is‎the‎least‎

we‎could‎do‎after‎the‎torture‎that‎

Christ‎endured‎for‎humanity.‎

A WORD ON

Luke‎Chap.6‎verse‎45

"A‎good‎man‎out‎of‎the‎good‎treas-

ure‎of‎his‎heart‎bringeth‎forth‎that‎

which‎is‎good;‎and‎an‎evil‎man‎out‎

of‎ the‎ evil‎ treasure‎ of‎ his‎ heart‎

bringeth‎ forth‎ that‎ which‎ is‎ evil:‎

for‎ of‎ the‎ abundance‎ of‎ the‎ heart‎

his‎mouth‎speaketh."

What this means to me is‎that‎

whatever‎we‎speak‎effects‎our‎lives‎

in‎ different‎ ways‎ also‎ it's‎ saying‎

that‎ if‎we‎ live‎ right‎ and‎ truthfully‎

then‎it‎won't‎just‎effect‎our‎lives‎

but‎ the‎ people‎ around‎ us‎ too‎ be-

cause‎ when‎ we‎ are‎ friendly‎ and‎

nice‎ then‎ you‎ bond‎ and‎ as‎ Chris-

tians‎ we‎ must‎ stick‎ together‎ and‎

help‎each‎other‎out.

What‎ this‎ scripture‎ also‎means‎ is‎

that‎people‎can‎tell‎if‎you‎are‎a‎true‎

Christian‎ because‎ if‎ you‎ say‎ you‎

are‎ but‎ don't‎ really‎mean‎ it‎ down‎

in‎your‎heart‎then‎it‎will‎effect‎the‎

way‎you‎think‎and‎speak‎negative-

ly.‎

PRAYER CORNER

The‎key‎to‎understanding‎how‎Je-sus‎ could‎pray‎ to‎God‎ the‎ Father‎is‎ found‎ in Hebrews‎ 2:17:‎"Therefore‎[Jesus]‎had‎to‎be‎made‎like‎his‎brothers‎in‎every‎respect."‎One‎ of‎ the‎ important‎ callings‎ of‎all‎ people‎ is‎ to‎ pray.‎ Jesus‎ was‎fully‎ human‎ as‎ well‎ as‎ fully‎God,‎and‎it‎was‎perfectly‎fitting‎that‎He‎should‎pray‎to‎the‎Father‎in‎heav-en. There‎are‎several‎reasons‎why‎Je-sus,‎ as‎ a‎ human‎ being,‎ prayed‎ to‎the‎ Father.‎ First,‎ all‎ people‎ are‎called‎ to‎ worship‎ God.‎ Prayer‎ is‎one‎ form‎ of‎ worship. Second,‎ as‎ a‎ Jew,‎ Jesus‎ was‎ ful-filling‎the‎Law‎of‎Moses‎to‎pray‎to‎the‎ LORD.‎ If‎ He‎ did‎ not‎ pray‎ to‎God‎ the‎ Father,‎ He‎ would‎ have‎been‎ disobedient‎ and‎ sinful. Third,‎ as‎ our‎ high‎ priest,‎ Jesus‎intercedes‎on‎behalf‎of‎God's‎peo-ple‎ (Hebrews‎2:17).‎We‎ see‎Jesus‎acting‎ as‎ intercessor‎ in John‎ 17,‎sometimes‎ called‎ the‎ "High‎Priestly‎ Prayer." A‎ fourth‎ reason‎ for‎Jesus‎praying‎to‎ the‎ Father‎ is‎ found‎ in John‎11:41-42.‎In‎this‎passage,‎Jesus‎ prays‎before‎He‎raises‎Lazarus‎

from‎ the‎ dead:‎ "Father,‎ I‎ thank‎you‎ that‎ you‎ have‎ heard‎ me.‎ I‎knew‎that‎you‎always‎hear‎me,‎but‎ I‎ said‎ this‎ on‎account‎of‎ the‎peo-ple‎ standing‎ around,‎ that‎ they‎may‎believe‎that‎you‎sent‎me."‎So,‎one‎ reason‎ Jesus‎ prayed‎ to‎ the‎Father‎was‎for‎the‎benefit‎of‎those‎around‎ Him. Fifth,‎ Jesus‎ prayed‎ to‎ the‎ Father‎to‎enjoy‎the‎ fellowship‎of‎ the‎Tri-une‎Godhead‎ of‎ Father,‎ Son,‎ and‎Holy‎Spirit.‎ Sometimes,‎ the‎Bible‎simply‎ says,‎ "Jesus‎ prayed,"‎ yet‎other‎ times‎ we‎ see‎ a‎ glimpse‎ of‎something‎more.‎Following‎Jesus'‎baptism,‎ He‎ prayed,‎ and‎ "the‎heavens‎were‎opened,‎and‎the‎Ho-ly‎Spirit‎descended‎on‎him‎in‎bod-ily‎ form,‎ like‎ a‎ dove;‎ and‎ a‎ voice‎came‎ from‎ heaven,‎ 'You‎ are‎ my‎beloved‎ Son;‎ with‎ you‎ I‎ am‎ well‎pleased'"‎ (Luke‎ 3:21-22).‎ Here,‎within‎the‎context‎of‎a‎prayer,‎Fa-ther,‎ Son,‎ and‎ Spirit‎ are‎ all‎ re-vealed‎ in‎ perfect‎ fellowship. Jesus‎ prayed‎ to‎ God‎ the‎ Father‎because‎ it‎ was‎ an‎ appropriate,‎natural,‎ and‎ essential‎ part‎ of‎His‎mission‎ on‎ earth.‎His‎ prayers‎ set‎an‎example‎for‎us‎grow‎in‎intima-cy‎with‎our‎Heavenly‎Father.‎

JOKES AND PUZZLES

9

I am one of 5, chosen by 1 of 8

I am mighty small, but by me the

Mighty fall

Drawn up from the depths, I am

aimed at the heights

I was found where I had sunk and I

sank where I was flung

I'm in the Bible - what am I?

I can be carried but not touched

I have two on the outside and ten on

the inside

Everyone wants to catch a sight of me

But I'm kept out of sight

I was lost and found; then found but

now I am lost

I'm in the Bible - what am I?
