PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY NEWSPRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY NEWSPRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY NEWSPRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY NEWS
We started making prayer shawls in 2006 and have given them to 73 Covenant members, non-members and relatives. We have very dedicated ladies
spending time making beautiful shawls and I have been very proud of all we have accomplished. I have been chairman of this group since we first started
and now we are going to have a new leader. Louise Winheim, a new member of the group, will take over as of March 1. We will still meet on the first Monday of each month and will continue to make beautiful shawls. I want to thank all of the ladies who have knitted, crocheted & quilted so we always had shawls to give.
I will still be part of this group each month. - Flossie Power
Our One Great Hour of Sharing gifts support ministries of disaster response, refugee assistance and resettlement, and community development that help people find safe refuge,
start new lives and work together to strengthen their families and communities. We will receive this offering on Easter Sunday, March 31. We hope you will take the time to read the weekly inserts in your worship guides, starting this
month, and to please give generously. Thank you.
Candy is needed for the Easter Egg hunt on March 31. The candy should be wrapped and able to fit in a plastic egg! There will be a
basket in the narthex for your donations. Thank you!

Here’s how Peter describes the church:
But you are the chosen race, the King’s priests, the holy nation, God’s own
people, chosen to proclaim the wonderful acts of God, who called you out of
darkness into his own marvelous light. At one time you were not God’s people,
but now you are his people; at one time you did not know God’s mercy, but now
you have received his mercy. (1 Peter 2:9-10 [TEV])
That’s who we are. It’s a wonderful passage that not only describes who we are and but
also describes what we are to be about. As recipients of God’s incredible grace made
known through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, we are, as Paul writes, to
Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and
pleasing to him. This is the true worship you should offer. Do not conform
yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by
a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God –
what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect. (Romans 12:1-2 [TEV])
Notice how Paul uses the singular word “sacrifice.” It’s as if we, as the body of Christ,
are to offer ourselves as one sacrifice, not many sacrifices, to God. Together we are the
church, the family of God, and the priesthood of believers. We are giving ourselves in
service to God who loves us unendingly.
What a description of the church! We are busy people. We certainly have a lot on our
plates with family, work, and play. But let’s remember, in all our busyness, of the
sacrifice Jesus made for us and how we can offer ourselves as a “living sacrifice” to him.
Happy Easter!!
Ken
