Pastoral Ministry Days is a time to educate & renew priests, deacons,
lay leaders & members of our Diocese. This is a Renewal of our
commitment to the Catholic Church. The Chrism Mass is celebrated
in which the Sacred Chrism Oils are blessed for their use in Baptisms,
Confirmation, anointing of the sick & other Sacred Ceremonies.
My favorite time is Holy Hour, the Mass, & the speakers who help
renew our faith knowledge, & to spend time with others who have
the same mission. Sheila Schweitzer

SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMISSION March 8, 2020 2nd Sunday of Lent
“And he was transfigured before them;
his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light.”
Last week we saw the consequences of original sin, but this week we catch a glimpse of our heavenly destiny, a destiny that, to date, only the great Mother of God, Mary Most Holy, has yet received, in her Assumption.
The vocation of motherhood was made more difficult as a consequence of sin, but Christ has elevated the vocation of Motherhood in choosing to become God made Man, born of a woman. And what does Mary, our Mother, tell us? “Do whatever he tells you.” Both Christ, and by extension, his mother, call us to serve those in need around us. And Moms in Need are a great place to start.
This Lent, check out your local pregnancy care center. Fill a baby bottle with your loose change. Offer to volunteer to babysit during their parenting classes. Find out what kind of donations they need; diapers, gently used baby clothes or baby furniture. Their needs are vast. Lets make sure all moms have the support they need to welcome their children into this world.
If you or someone you know is suffering after abortion, confidential, compassionate help is available. Visit www.HopeAfterAbortion.org or call Carol at 605-374-5636.
Please call the parish office to submit names for the prayer list. Please include name and illness.

Liturgy & Life
This week, make a conscious effort to change your routine
in order to become more conscious of God’s presence.
Turn off the car radio, take a different route home,
or forgoe the snooze on your morning alarm.
A little change in perspective can open your eyes
to how you can serve God better in your life.
Sometimes we need to take time to be quiet to hear God’s
voice. This means turning off the TV or computer or our
cell phones for a while so that we can pay attention to how
God may be speaking to us.
Second Sunday in Lent
“Bear your share of the hardship for the Gospel,”
St. Paul tells Timothy in today’s second reading.
What sacrifice is asked of me for the sake of the Gospel?
How willing am I to bear my share?
2Timothy 1:8b

Lenten Prayer ...O Sacred Heart of Jesus,
give me a heart that is one with your
own; a loving heart that has compassion
for the suffering of others; a pure heart
that recoils even at the appearance
of evil; a heart detached from self-love
& embraced by the love of God, its attention
focused on God, its goodness is its only treasure
in time & in eternity.
