Another member has been induct- ed into the prestigious LISD Apple Corps. Carla Goddard teaches 3rd grade English Language Arts and Reading at Timber Creek Elementary. She has taught in LISD for nine years and has been in her current position for five years. e previous four years were spent at Livingston Junior High in Reading Intervention. She grew up and attended school in Temple, Texas. She graduated with her teaching degree from Howard Payne University. Her primary job responsibilities include teaching 3rd graders to read for understanding and application, communicate effectively through both written and spoken language, and to be an asset to the Timber Creek Elementary family. She loves getting to work alongside other passionate educators as they strive to help students reach their po- tential each year in school and beyond graduation. She feels it’s powerful to think of the positive changes her students can make in the world. She strives to help students realize their importance and give them the tools to live successful, purposeful lives. PINE RIDGE ELEMENTARY LITTLE LEADERS -- Pine Ridge Elementary students were recognized during the February meeƟng of the LISD School Board. Students are selected by teachers and assigned leadership duƟes. She is married to David Goddard, and they will celebrate 30 years of marriage this year. ey have two children who are both LHS graduates. eir son, Austin, an A&M gradu- ate is employed by Pixar Animation Studios. eir daughter, Alexis, will graduate from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor next spring with a degree in Social Work and minor in Marketing. is is what her colleagues had to say about her: Caryn McLendon: Carla Goddard has a heart for children. She is a cre- ative and genuine teacher. I learned so much from teaching with Carla and I miss being on the same team with her. Congratulations Carla! Deena Galloway: It is a joy to work with Carla! Her classroom provides creative and fun-filled learning. She is definitely a bright spot at TCE!!! Congratulations for a job well done! Misty Rinehart: Congrats! I always knew that Timber Creek teachers rocked but you are awesome and thank you for all that you do every single day to make sure that it stays that way!! Rock on and continue to be a blessing in each and every kid’s life that you come in contact with!!!! Kristy Long: I cannot think of a more deserving person of the Apple Corps Award. She goes above and beyond to do what’s right for all kids, and she truly cares about her students. She is creative and has the best ideas. I count it a blessing to be able to work with Carla each day. Lisa Polk: Carla Goddard constantly shares her excitement about teach- ing and makes a positive impact on teachers and students. She is always looking for innovative ways to assist her students’ development in literacy. Congratulations Carla! Peggy Payne: Carla is a great team player as well as a wonderful friend. I have taught with Carla for several years and she is so fun and creative. She can also decorate for anything or any place. She makes a birthday party so enjoyable with all her decorations. anks for being a great friend and a wonderful teacher. Assistant Principal Bonnie Tram- mell: We’re all very fortunate to serve beside Mrs. Goddard at Timber Creek. As administrators, Mr. Young and I have the opportunity to visit every classroom each day whether it be during our breakfast rounds to say good morning to each student or to check in to enjoy the fun activities they’re doing with their teachers. e moment I enter Mrs. Goddard’s room is always a memorable part of my day because of her ability to teach the oldest students on our campus with high expectations while also allowing them to enjoy being the 8 and 9 year olds that they are. I know her students appreciate this about her as well, and I’m confident she will be that special teacher many of them remember when they reflect on their experience at Timber Creek as adults. Principal Ryan Young: At Timber Creek Elementary School, we’re fortunate enough to have Mrs. Carla Goddard as one of our third grade reading teachers. She exemplifies everything a great educator should be. She spends all of her time making sure that each one of her kids gets ev- erything they need to be successful as they go forward into fourth grade and throughout their educational career.
