 As spring has come, the

warmer temperatures

associated with it haven’t.

What a different a year

makes, as last year all

courses in Iowa wereopen by now and most

have enjoyed a few weeks

of golf already. As we all

try to hang in there these

next few weeks before the

course opens for the year,

it has allowed me to get

on the course and start

some needed tree work.

This past week, I have

been working on cutting

down a few older, dead

Long Winter

 A Busy April

 Along with spring comes,

clean up from the winter. I

would like to thank both

Remsen St. Mary’s and

Remsen Union’s golf

teams for coming out this

past week to help with

picking up sticks and

raking leaves from last

fall. They also assisted in

cleaning up the cart barns,

which was a big help. April

will be a busy month for

both golf teams, as they

will be having meets most

Mondays, Tuesdays, and

Thursdays. I have

attached both schools

schedules. We will also be

hosting the Boys’ War

Eagle Conference meet in

trees that had been left

neglected, along with

limbing up many of the

evergreen trees on the

course. This will prove

beneficial throughout theyear, as it will speed up

the pace of play and you

won’t have to spend a lot

of time searching for golf

balls. It will also be

maintenance friendly as

we will be able to easily

get underneath the trees

to mow and garbage won’t

collect underneath them

anymore. As temperatures

start to warm up these

next few weeks, keep in

touch with both our Twitter

and Facebook pages,

along with the clubhouse

for the official course

opening date. I amshooting at opening the

course on either April 6th

depending on

weather. Once it does

open expect that the first

few days might be walking

only until the course has

some time to dry up. I

would like to remind

everyone that starting

March 29, the clubhouse

will be open if you’re

looking at paying your membership for the

discounted rate or if you

didn’t make it out for the

Stockholders’ Meeting and

early May. I would like to

wish coaches; Steve

Neuberger, Theresa

Trout, & Sue Klein, along

of luck as they prepare for

the 2013 season.
